AUTOMATIC qualification for the Speedway World Cup final will be the objective for manager Alun Rossiter when Great Britain hit the track for next week’s semi-finals.

Rossiter takes his British quartet of 2013 world champion Tai Woffinden, Coventry Bees duo Chris Harris and Danny King and teenage ace Robert Lambert to King’s Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena for event two of the SWC semis on Monday, June 8, where they will race against the USA, Australia and Latvia.

Topping the pile in Norfolk would see GB earn a spot for the June 13 final at the 22,000-capacity Vojens Speedway Centre in Denmark and, more importantly for Rossiter, avoiding being thrust into the pressure-cooker of the winner-takes-all race-off at the same venue two days earlier.

“I’m pretty happy with the side I’ve got.” said GB chief Rossiter.

“Woffy’s been riding well, Danny’s been riding well, Bomber (Harris) has been riding well and so has Robert Lambert,” said GB chief Rossiter.

“The important thing for us is to try and finish top and get through to the final. We want to avoid the race-off because it’s really difficult to get through that.

“I think we’ve got no fear and hopefully we’ve got the riders to do the job.”

Rossiter has named Robins number two Kyle Howarth as reserve for his GB squad.
