NICK Morris admits Australia’s sublime qualification for the World Cup final is no guarantee for success when it matters tonight.

Swindon Robins duo Morris and Troy Batchelor were part of the Aussie quartet who triumphed in Event Two at King’s Lynn on Monday night to book their place in the fight for gold in Denmark at Vojens.

There is plenty of stiff opposition standing between the Swindon pair and World Cup glory though, with reigning champions Denmark sure to mount a strong challenge in front of a home crowd.

Sweden pulled off a big shock to win Event One in Poland last weekend and book their place in the final, while Alun Rossiter’s Great Britain were edged out by the Poles in Thursday night’s Race-Off.

Spirits are high in the Australian camp, with teammates Jason Doyle and Chris Holder also in good form, but Morris says it is important they do not get ahead of themselves.

“It’s not going to be easy. There are some good teams out there but we’ll just battle all the way until the end,” said Morris.

“We’ll just treat it as any other meeting. We always want to do well in whatever meeting we are in and we’ll just try to do what we did on Monday again on Saturday.

“Denmark are always a good team. They won it last year and are on their home turf too, so they're definitely going to be very hard to beat.

“Sweden are in the final too and are not going to be easy and if you manage to win the Race-Off to qualify, it makes you another hard team to beat as well.

“We definitely know we’re in for a real battle and there’s going to be three very tough teams up against us but we will do everything we can to try to finish on top.”

Morris was making his senior international debut in Norfolk earlier in the week and it turned into a memorable night for the recently turned 21-year-old.

He raced to two heat wins from his five rides and finished with 12 points overall as Australia topped the standings with 47 points.

Although that has given Morris plenty of confidence to carry to Denmark, he knows he will need to raise his game even higher.

“We had a good meeting at King’s Lynn and all the team get along really well, which is important,” said Morris.

“I was really happy with how I rode earlier in the week. I got some good points.

"I am happy it helped the team get the win but we know it’s going to be a really tough test in the final now.”
