GRZEGORZ Zengota is hoping that his sparkling form will be more than enough to convince Alun Rossiter to retain his services when the Swindon Robins chief shuffles his pack in the coming days.

Robins team manager Rossiter is expected to wield the axe on his current roster in a bid to boost his team’s faltering fortunes in the Elite League.

Darcy Ward is expected to replace Poland’s Adrian Miedzinski in the number one slot, with either Kyle Howarth or Zengota also in line for the chop as the Robins strive to meet the average cap.

But 26-year-old Zengota has broken the 10-point barrier in each of his last three outings for Swindon, including a 12-point maximum in Thursday night’s vanquishing of the Wolverhampton Wolves.

Whilst surprised that his place could be in jeopardy, the Polish rider thinks that he’s made a rock-solid case to remain at the Abbey Stadium, marked by his performance against the Wolves.

“I’m very happy because I scored fantastic points for the team and for myself also,” said Zengota.

“It was a really great win, by a lot of points. It (was a) fantastic day, not just for me, but for the whole team too.

“I heard before the meeting about the fight for my position and I don’t believe I’m in this situation because now I’ve been really good on the track and wherever I’m racing.

“I’ve been scoring 10, maybe more points, so I couldn’t believe it, but I tried to show Rosco I’m needed for the team.

“After this meeting, I have made for him the argument. Now I hope I am in the team and I will help to get the Robins into the play-offs.”

Zengota clinched four victories from four heats against Wolverhampton but wasn’t handed a berth in heat 15, with Rossiter instead plumping for Howarth and captain Troy Batchelor.

But the Robins’ number four wasn’t disappointed to miss out on the chance to add to his perfect night.

Zengota said: “It was Rosco’s decision (not to pick me in heat 15). I had scored 12 points maximum - I know it would be more money for me but I am satisfied with my show.

“Rosco needed to try another and this other rider needed a race, so it is no problem for me.”
