SWINDON Robins team boss Alun Rossiter has said there is calmness around his squad as they look to press the re-set button on their campaign.

With the arrival of Darcy Ward and Eduard Krcmar this week Rossiter held a practice day at the Abbey Stadium on Thursday afternoon, ahead of a make or break weekend for the Robins.

Rossiter’s side head to Leicester, this evening, before returning for a home meeting with Poole Pirates on Monday.

Despite the hotly anticipated arrival of Ward, Rossiter is unsure of whether he will be the answer to Swindon’s early season problems, but has said there is a good feeling in the camp.

“We all seem pretty calm and it is nice to see all the boys here today” Rossiter said at the practice event.

“With the exception of Charles (Wright)who is racing at Redcar, it is a good chance for the boys to get in some practice laps.

“We have got an important meeting on Monday at home to Poole, but first thing first it is important that we are ready to go on Saturday.

“Darcy is coming in Saturday (to make his debut), but I don’t want too much pressure on him because he has not been racing, he has ridden a bike but he is not racing fit.

“I don’t want everybody to think he is going to get a 15 point maximum.

“He has been practising in Sweden and Australia, and that is why we wanted to see how he was today in practice.

“I am not saying that this is going to be the answer, but I had to do something.

“If we sat there doing nothing then we wouldn’t get the people through the turnstiles.

“We have done the best we can in a bad situation and I think we have got probably one of the most exciting riders in the world coming in.”

When the Robins last travelled to Leicester, two weeks ago, it proved to be the last ride for Pole Adrian Miedzinski, as he failed to score in Swindon’s humbling 52-38 defeat.

Rossiter is hoping his side can learn from their mistakes and get their season back on track this evening.

“It was an awful performance and I am sure the boys will be keen to make up for the efforts the last time they went there,” he added.

“We should be in a better frame of mind now and with us being there not so long ago, it should be good for us.

“I was pretty annoyed after the last meeting at Leicester, because I knew we were better than that.

“Adrian had a nightmare of a meeting and I think that had a knock-on effect to the rest of the team.

“I was hoping that, when that happens, someone was going to step up, but nobody stepped up that night.”
