SWINDON recorded back-to-back victories in the Elite League for the first time since the end of May with a 51-39 win over Wolverhampton Wolves.

Polish rider Grzegorz Zengota continued to impress as his 16 points proved crucial in the away win, as the Robins turned the screw in the second half of the meeting, securing three four maximums to romp to victory.

With reserve Lewis Rose ruled out for four weeks with a wrist injury, former Wolves rider Ashley Morris returned to Monmore Green to guest for the Robins.

Meanwhile Aussie Nick Morris returned from his elbow injury, which ruled him out of the home win over reigning champions Poole Pirates, but a fall in heat seven saw that injury re-open.

Despite a good start from Darcy Ward in heat one, he lost control coming out of the second bend to hand the lead and race win to Jacob Thorssell, as Eduard Krcmar struggled at the back.

After Charles Wright hit the floor on the first run of the second heat, Josh Bates was then disqualified for losing control on the third bend of the first lap on the re-run.

After an unsatisfactory start on the third running, Ashley Morris gated well and looked to have blocked out Lewis Blackbird but the young rider came out of the second bend the stronger to take the win, with Charles Wright behind.

Lindgren gated well in heat three to take the lead, with Troy Batchelor sitting in behind, while Nick Morris battled well to keep Ricky Wells behind him, despite numerous attempts to pass.

Tobiasz Musielak had a 15 metre penalty for a false start in heat four, before off before coming off his bike on the first bend, but got back on to complete his race at the back.

Meanwhile Zengota and Ashley Morris came together coming out of the second bend to see the guest slip back to third.

Thorssell took control of heat five from the start with Wright unable to do much to challenge from behind. Blackbird comfortably beat Krcmar, who continued to struggle, for third spot.

Ward looked control from the off in heat six, and was constantly looking behind to find teammate Batchelor, but he couldn’t get past Musielak at the back until the last corner.

Nick Morris, missed out on heat seven, after he got the front wheel locked up in the first bend and flipped himself off the bike.

Zengota had it all to do after the re-start and tried to go outside of Karlsson on the first bend but found no way around to concede the first maximum of the night.

Krcmar earned a vital point in heat eight as he held on to the end for third place after gating well, with Wright taking the three points to claw Swindon back into contention.

Zengota gated well in heat nine to take the lead, while Ashley Morris was squeezed out going into the first bend to find himself at the back. The Pole was never really challenged as Thorssell comes in second for a share of the points.

Ward was squeezed out and is lucky not to come off his bike coming out of turn two in heat 10, before Wells and Lindgren team up to keep the Aussie behind them for the maximum.

Swindon responded immediately as Ashley Morris streaked away at the front, while Batchelor dug deep against Karlsson to take second place on the last lap.

The Robins followed that up with the second maximum of the evening with Ashley Morris taking the win.

Wolves will consider themselves hard done by as Blackbird fell on the first bend as he was pushed wide by Wright, but there was no red flag.

Swindon were able to extend their lead when Ward came from second place to pass Lindgren underneath on the second bend of the second lap, with fellow Aussie Batchelor finishing in third.

Swindon all but wrapped up the win with their third maximum of the night in heat 14.

Zengota showed his strength to take the lead with Batchelor, who had come in to replace Nick Morris, backing him up.

The Pole topped off a great night in Wolverhampton as he guided Ward home in heat 15 ahead of Thorssell to wrap up the impressive victory, in what is a crucial week for the Robins.
