SWINDON Robins chief Alun Rossiter is warning his troops to keep a lid on their confidence when they return to the scene of their mauling of the Wolves.

Two weeks ago, Swindon finally got the monkey off their back as they secured their first away win of the season with a superb 51-39 triumph at Monmore Green and tonight (tapes-up 7.30), Rossiter’s men are in the West Midlands once again as they look to keep their Elite League play-off challenge on track.

With five wins in their last seven outings, the Robins are in fine fettle – they also sit just a point behind the Belle Vue Aces with three meetings in hand – but the Abbey Stadium chief is keeping his feet on the ground.

“After what happened last time and the way we’ve been riding, we shouldn’t fear going there,” said Rossiter.

“But we can’t be overconfident. I’m sure that Wolverhampton will be hurting and will be wanting to right what happened last time.

“We had a break last week, which I’m not happy about but you’ve just got to knuckle down and get on with it – people have still been riding for other teams.

“A lot of people are saying it’s all about us and Belle Vue (for fourth place) but I think that King’s Lynn are in there too because we’re not far behind them.

“So I think that third place could be a possibility for us but we can’t worry about that yet.”

Rossiter still expects Nick Morris to return from injury in Thursday’s home meeting against the Coventry Bees.

Ironically, Bees captain Chris Harris will guest in place of Morris, who has been sidelined since last month with a deeply-cut elbow, and the Robins boss says that bringing in a Grand Prix rider, who is also a Great Britain international, is an indicator of just how high the young Australian’s stock has risen.

Rossiter added: “Nick’s cut has pretty much healed but another few days would do it good and it’s always better to come back on your home track after some time out.

“I think getting someone like Harris shows just how well Nick has been riding.”
