WINS at Monmore Green Stadium are like buses for Swindon Robins as they completed their second victory in the space of two weeks over Wolverhampton with a 52-38 win.

Having not won in the Black Country since 2012, Swindon completed a second away win to stretch their winning run to three on the bounce.

Darcy Ward showed all his class as he collected 13, 15 paid, points, alongside fellow Aussie Troy Batchelor, who scored 10, paid 12, points to complete the 14 point victory.

Coventry Bees captain and Grand Prix rider Chris Harris came into the team to guest in place of Nick Morris, who has been sidelined since last month with a deeply-cut elbow, and he proved to be the difference on the night.

Meanwhile Peter Adams’ Wolves side were at full strength, with reserve duo Josh Bates and Lewis Blackbird both overcoming their recent injury problems to line-up for the hosts.

THE last time Swindon were here they recorded back-to-back victories in the Elite League for the first time since the end of May with a 51-39 win over Wolverhampton Wolves.

The night got off to the perfect start for Swindon as Darcy Ward beat Tai Woffinden’s track record with a time of 53.45 to take the heat win and a share of the points.

Josh Bates gated well in heat two but Robert Branford beat him to the first bend, before the Wolves reserve was caught up in a second lap tangle with Charles Wright.

Wright was disqualified from the re-run, after being judged to have caused the accident and in the re-run Branford was squeezed out by Blackbird and ended up at the back after bend two, but the Robins reserve fought back to second to limit the damage.

The Robins responded immediately in heat three as Batchelor gated well, before Harris took the lead by the end of the first lap for a maximum.

Heat four was forced to be re-started after Blackbird gated well, but Tobiasz Musielak got all out of shape coming out of the first bend and could not pick himself up in time.

Blackbird couldn't control the bike from the gate and Grzegorz Zengota, who picked up 16 points at Monmore Green last time out, took advantage, with Wright battling hard behind to secure the maximum.

Krcmar started well in heat five but went too deep into the first bend and was taken underneath by Jacob Thorssell, with Blackbird taking the Pole down the back straight to claim the maximum and close the gap.

The Aussie duo of Ward and Batchelor got off the mark well in heat six and Batchelor just held on to second place for the first lap before Ward let him past to secure the maximum.

While Harris and Fredrik Lindgren battled it out into the first corner of heat seven, Karlsson snuck underneath for the lead, however he could not hold onto it as the Bomber finally secured the win in the final lap.

Wright replaced Krcmar in heat eight but it had no impact as Branford got a great start and he looked like taking the win before a mistake going into the first corner of the last lap cost Branford, with Musielak capitalising.

Zengota got the perfect start in heat nine and was closely followed by Thorsell, who took the Pole on the back straight of the second lap.

Wright could do little at the back, and despite a late surge from Zengota, Thorssell held onto the win to close the gap to just four points.

Ward again got a lightning start in heat 10 to lead from the first bend but he was not supported by Krcmar as the points were split.

Lindgren gated well in heat 11 to keep Harris behind him coming out of the second bend. Batchelor was pushed all the way by Thorssell, but the Aussie kept hold of third place for another share of the points.

Wolves were always struggling in heat 12 without injured Bates, but Blackbird did well to limit the damage with a second place finish as Wright took the win.

The Aussie pair of Batchelor and Ward teamed up again in heat 13 to all but wrap up the meeting with a maximum over Lindgren and Karlsson.

Wolves did not give up however, as they pushed Harris and Zengota all the way in heat 14 with The Bomber doing enough for the win and the Pole being sandwiched on the line between Musielak and Wells.

Lindgren gates well and does enough to keep the Aussie duo behind him until the last lap when Ward pounced.

Ward showed all his skill in the final heat as he took Lindgren going into the final lap to complete the 14 point victory.
