ALUN Rossiter has played down the importance of a week which could determine whether Swindon Robins make the play-offs.

Swindon travel to one of their biggest rivals for a place in the Elite League’s top four, Belle Vue Aces, this evening knowing a win could put one foot in the door of the end of season finale.

Rossiter has already made his move ahead of the meeting brining in Australia’s Aaron Summers to replace Eduard Krcmar as he looks to add more experience to his septet.

However, Rossiter is playing things cool and knows with the likes of Coventry and King’s Lynn still to visit the Abbey Stadium, that the Robins chances of making it into the play-offs is very much in their own hands.

“It’s a long hard week and we are getting to the business end of the season now,” said Rossiter.

“We are going into the week on the back of some good form and will fear nobody, but I don’t think this week will be the decider.

“There will be a lot more changes between now and the end of the season,.

“If we can pick up a couple of wins, it will put us in a good position.

“Riding at Belle Vue is not rocket science, you have to gate well.”

Rossiter made the hard decision to replace 19-year-old Czech rider Krcmar last Friday after a face-to-face discussion.

He hopes that Summers, who he worked with during a title winning season with Coventry Bees in 20120, will help the Robins to secure a play-off spot for a third consecutive season.

“We’re coming to the end of the season now and unfortunately it hasn’t quite worked out with Eduard,” added Rossiter.

“He needs more time.

“We think he has got the ability, but with the play-offs getting closer we just think that we need a bit more experience.

“The pressure on Krcmar to do it was immense and he was frustrated because he wanted to do better himself.

“I know it seems a little bit harsh, but we have got to do what we can to get to the play-offs.

“Aaron will just bring that little bit of experience and he is having a good run with Glasgow.

“I’m hoping that he will help sure up the number two spot and he has been around for a few years, and has been scoring consistently in the Premier League.

“He also has experience of the tracks like Coventry and Belle Vue, all these places he has been there.”
