GRZEGORZ Zengota says he wants to ride for Swindon again next season after enjoying a successful return to the Abbey.

The Polish rider, who represented the club during the 2010 and 2011 seasons, won over many a Robin fan during his second stint with the club.

The 27-year-old came close to being dropped when Darcy Ward arrived in Wiltshire.

However, that sparked new life into the Polish star and he has not looked back, finishing the season with the best average in the team on 7.79.

“I feel very good in this club and I would like to stay here,” said Zengota.

“We will talk in the winter and we will see what happens, but I want to race next season and it is no problem for me.

“I hope we can find a compromise in the talks and I am back with Swindon next season.”

Zengota was clearly disappointed with the way the season ended on Monday night with defeat to Belle Vue in the play-offs and will use that to make sure he comes back stronger next year.

“The season has been OK, but it could have been better if we had made the final, so I have mixed feelings right now,” added Zengota.

“I am satisfied with my season in England and in Poland.

“Everywhere my season was OK and I know there is more to come from me.

“I will try in the next season to do more than I did in this season.

“We should have qualified for the final, so I need to be better.”

The Pole had no excuses for the way Swindon bowed out of the play-offs as he admitted they were beaten by the better team on the night in Belle Vue and wished them luck in the final.

“We made too many mistakes at the beginning of the meeting, so the pressure went up with every point,” he said.

“The Belle Vue riders were very good and the track was not prepared like it normally was and they found it better.

“It took me a couple of heats to find the right set up and I did a bad job in the races.

“After two heats I changed the bike and my second bike was much better.

“It was the same track for everybody.

“I think we tried to ride the track like it was before and this was a big mistake from the home riders and later it was too late.

“We don’t have a smile on our face, but this is speedway.”
