STRICKEN former Swindon Robins star Darcy Ward has conceded that he may never walk again.
The 23-year-old was enjoying a stellar return to speedway with the Robins when he suffered the life-changing injuries in a crash whilst riding in Poland for Zielona Gora in August.
Understandably, Ward and his family chose to keep the full extent of his injuries out of the spotlight before the prognosis on his injury was clear.
Now reports suggest he is paralysed from the chest down, but has use of his arms and can operate a wheelchair.
“It’s not good. I’ve come to grips with it now that I may never walk again, but OK with that. I’ve never been one to focus on the negatives,” Ward told the Daily Mail.
“Anything is possible. With technology and medication moving forward things could change. I have to stay positive and deal with it."
