SWINDON Robins' Jason Doyle says his team's troops from Down Under will stop short of demanding that ‘Advance Australia Fair’ is sung before meetings this season as he prepares to lead an Aussie-heavy side into battle.

The Robins’ top five is made up entirely of Australian riders, with Nick Morris, Justin Sedgmen, Josh Grajczonek and Dakota North completing the line-up.

However, captain Doyle sees this as a positive for the camaraderie of the side and claims there are no ‘big heads’ to upset the apple cart.

“It’s always good to ride with all the Aussies,” he said. “There is a lot of rivalry and we all want to be the number one Aussie.

“A lot of Australians in one team isn’t the best but we are always going to turn up and Aussies are always known for backing English speedway and hopefully we will back Swindon to success.

“The main thing is we have a team not full of big heads. We have a team of normal riders who go out there and enjoy racing together.

“There is nothing worse than having an odd one out in the team but I think next year will be an enjoyable year, not just for the Aussies but for the whole Swindon team.”

Doyle is looking forward to teaming up with countryman Morris but doesn’t believe the 21-year-old will be leaning on him much this season for experience.

“I don’t think Nick needs much support any more,” he added. “He worked his way into the Australian team last season and is a great little rider.

“I rode with him at Somerset and it was enjoyable.”

The 2016 Elite League fixtures are due to be announced later today.
