SWINDON Robins stormed to their second Elite League win of the season when they trumped Belle Vue Aces in emphatic fashion this evening.

Alun Rossiter’s men won 11 races on the night at the Abbey Stadium and had the overall victory wrapped up with three heats to spare.

The Robins got off to a dream start as they romped to a maximum in the opening race of the night. Jason Doyle and Justin Sedgmen both flew out of the gates, with the Robins skipper eventually eking out a sizeable gap before the flag.

Swindon made it two 5-1 success in as many races when Rohan Tungate and Stefan Nielsen repeated the trick in the next. Tungate and Steve Worrall duelled around the first two bends before a mistake from the Aces man then let Nielsen through for a second place.

Nick Morris collected the home side’s third heat win in a row at the start of the meet, racing clear of a cracking battle between Scott Nicholls and Charles Wright behind, which the Belle Vue rider just got the better of to take second.

There was plenty of drama in heat four as Swindon duo Josh Grajczonek and Nielsen tangled and both went down. Nielsen was excluded but Grajczonek did not let the fall affect him as he blistered around the first bend to leave the Aces in his wake and make it four wins from four for the Robins.

Swindon then made it three maximums from five heats, with Sedgmen gating the best to forge ahead and Tungate produceing a big ride behind to hang onto second place.

Belle Vue finally claimed their first victory of the evening in heat six as Matej Zagar always had the measure of Grajczonek out front but the visitors’ decision to hand Craig Cook the tactical ride backfired as he could only trail home in third.

Swindon skipper Doyle soon got the hosts back on the front foot, claiming his second win from two rides in heat seven when he left the rest stuck in the gates to build up an unassailable lead after two bends.

Grajczonek got a second win of his own in the next, with him, Max Fricke and Worrall three abreast as they reached turn three but the Swindon man was the bravest and muscled his way to the front.

Sedgmen then had two victories himself in race nine, shooting clear of the pack off the line, before Zagar secured a rare Belle Vue success in the next, although all the action unfolded behind as Morris snatched second place on the final bend with a sublime pass on Fricke.

A lightning start saw Doyle collect his third heat win in number 11 and the home side wrapped up the overall victory for the night with three to spare as Tungate forged into an early lead that he never looked like relinquishing.

Another victory came Doyle’s way in heat 13 but there was a rare blemish for the home side in the penultimate race of the night as Nicholls led home Worrall in the Aces' first maximum.
