ROHAN Tungate thinks that the Swindon Robins’ recent showings have demonstrated just how quickly he and his 2016 team-mates have gelled together.

Alun Rossiter’s side beat Belle Vue Aces at home on Thursday, April 21, and then, after a momentary break from action, they claimed a fine 50-42 victory away at Coventry Bees on Bank Holiday Monday.

Tonight, the Robins are back at the Abbey Stadium as they go looking to make it three wins in as many meetings against the Lakeside Hammers (tapes-up 7.45pm) and Tungate and co will be out to replicate the impressive all-round display they produced to dispatch the Bees earlier this week.

Flanked by fellow Australians Jason Doyle, Josh Grajczonek, Nick Morris and Justin Sedgmen, as well as Brits Charles Wright and Stefan Nielsen, the 26-year-old thinks that the bond of familiarity between the Swindon septet is paying dividends already.

“I’m mates with all the Aussies in the team, I ride with Charles at Somerset and Stefan; I rode with him for two years at Ipswich,” said Tungate, who was the Robins’ top-scorer with 13 points against Coventry.

“I can’t fault any of the boys. Everyone’s been great and they’re all pretty helpful.

“We don’t really need to change anything at the moment. We’ve just got to keep winning races and keep the boss (Rossiter) happy, and we’ll be alright.

“Everyone’s riding good and we seemed to avoid as many last places as we could (on Monday). You can’t fault us there.

“I’ve had some good meetings (this season) but that was a pretty good one because we got an away win – that was what we went there for, so it worked out good.

“We’re just getting under way now and everyone’s coming into form and getting into the swing of things, and we’re only going to go forward, I think.”
