SWINDON Robins secured the first win at the new National Stadium as they completed a 50-40 win over Belle Vue Aces.

Rohan Tungate led the charge for Swindon as he scored 15+2 to put the hosts in a commanding position and come away with all the points on the road.

Swindon suffered a blow prior to the meeting with skipper Jason Doyle ruled out late on.

The Australian suffered bruising after crashes in successive meetings in Sweden and Poland at the weekend and was forced to sit out the trip to Manchester.

Robins team boss Alun Rossiter called on the services of Coventry Bees' Chris Harris who stepped in at number one for the visitors.

The first race at the new stadium was marked by a maximum for the hosts as Craig Cook set the early pace as he led home Matej Zagar for a 5-1 advantage in the opening heat.

Joe Jacobs turned up late to the tapes in heat two after he changed bikes and Swindon were able to restore parity immediately as Rohan Tungate capitalised on a poor start from the Aces duo with Stefan Nielsen able to follow him home.

CWhiook, a rider replacement for the hosts’ Max Fricke in heat three, continued his perfect start as he picked up his second win of the evening, with Josh Grajczonek coming from fourth place around bend three of the opening lap to take second ahead of Scott Nicholls.

Steve Worrall got away well in heat four ahead of Nielsen, who did enough to hold off the challenge of Richie Worrall down the back straight to take second.

Tungate continued his perfect start with a great get away in heat five and was followed in second place by Charles Wright to level things for a second time with a maximum.

Nicholls and Harris were level pegging out of bend two in heat six. The Aces rider did enough to take the lead but was taken on bend one of the final lap with a great dive down the inside from the Coventry rider.

Swindon took the lead for the first time on the evening as Grajczonek equalled the track record to lead home Sedgmen and claim a third maximum of the night for the visitors.

While Tungate maintained his perfect evening as he came from behind to take Richie Worrall well in the penultimate lap of heat eight.

A great start by Richie Worrall and Jacobs in heat nine put the hosts in control and Nielsen tried to split them down the back straight but went too deep into bend three as the Aces secured the maximum.

Tungate maintained his hot streak and he gated perfectly to take the lead in heat 10, with Harris battling for second place out of bend two for another maximum for Swindon.

Morris finally found his rhythm and gated well to take the lead in heat 11 but Zagar would not go away and once he took Grajczonek he made a move in the last bend on the Aussie but a photo finish saw Morris take the win.

Steve Worrall gated well and controlled heat 12 from the front but Nielsen and Tungate secured a draw as Jacobs struggled home.

Morris had definitely found his groove by heat 13 as he took the lead early but Harris struggled to make an impact at the back as the points were split.

It was the same in heat 14 as Sedgmen got the jump at the start but this time it is Grajczonek was left struggling at the back as Aces failed to find a way past the leader.

Swindon wrapped up the points with a maximum finish as Morris took the lead early and Tungate battled hard for second spot from Zagar.
