ALUN Rossiter feels like he’s learning all the time as he bids to get the best out of his Swindon Robins septet.

The Robins’ glittering form continued on Thursday night as they dispatched King’s Lynn Stars 55-38 at the Abbey Stadium, going back to the top of the Elite League table with a fifth victory on the spin.

Despite racing at reserve, Justin Sedgmen starred for Rossiter with a stunning six-ride paid maximum whilst Nick Morris and Stefan Nielsen impressed but there were less-than-enjoyable turns for Charles Wright and Rohan Tungate, whose night was ended by injury, although the 26-year-old, who couldn’t ride for Somerset Rebels last night, should be fighting fit for Swindon’s trip to the Stars next week.

Team manager Rossiter says that getting the balance right with every member of his squad is taking time but it’s something that he’s throwing his all into.

“There’s a lot of different riders here this year and knowing how they work, how they respond, how they don’t respond; it’s just one of those learning curves and when you’ve got different riders, it’s just about learning how you handle them and what you do,” said the Robins chief.

“Certainly with Sedgy; he’s a bit different to the others, so a couple of times, I probably haven’t handled him the right way but that’s me learning how to do it and I think we’re now getting the best out of him.

“He was brilliant (against King’s Lynn). His confidence is building slowly now. I worked with him very early on and it’s just about knowing how to handle him.

“In fairness to him, he was doing the business at number two, so I was surprised he actually went to reserve.

“He was scoring between seven and nine points a meeting. It wasn’t as if he was getting ones and twos, so I was a bit surprised but it makes us strong, so hey-ho.

“I think Stefan’s coming to party now and Nick Morris is getting back to his best – he’s just had his engine done after finding a few problems with it – but we just need to get some laps around here for Rohan, really. Away from here, he’s fine but he just seems to struggle around the Abbey.”

Rossiter says that he is concerned over the form of Wright, who has suffered from a host of technical issues in recent weeks, and says that the 27-year-old, who has been named as a reserve for the 2016 British Final in Belle Vue on June 13, is in desperate need of some extra support.

The Swindon boss added: “Charles, with his luck; he’s struggling. If anybody can help him out; he’s absolutely broken at the moment.

“His confidence is really shot, so we’ve got to try and build him up a little bit now.”
