SWINDON Robins skipper Jason Doyle is ready to fight for the team having shaken off another injury.

The Aussie was at risk of missing last Thursday’s trip to King’s Lynn having had a crash in Poland the Sunday prior which left him in hospital.

Scans showed a twisted left ankle and after late fitness tests, Doyle declared himself fit to ride at the Adrian Flux Arena and picked up 9+1 points in Swindon’s 45-45 draw with the Stars.

“Everything is sweet, it’s speedway I guess and you have just got to push through for the team,” said Doyle.

“Swindon is my team and I need to do my job.

“I need to be here to try and score as many points and do my job.

“(Against King’s Lynn) was not the way we wanted to finish the meeting but to go there and get a couple of points is good.

“I think the fans that gave us no hope of doing what we are doing at the moment need to realise that we’re coming good now and we have got a fighting team.

“It was a good team effort again and we are in it for the long haul now.”

Swindon are now unbeaten in their last six outings but have the chance to show the home fans just how far they have come since the start of the campaign when they play host to Poole Pirates at the Abbey Stadium this afternoon (4pm).

Alun Rossiter’s men kicked off their season with a disappointing 55-35 defeat at Wimborne Road but Doyle believes that the reserves hold the key to today’s meeting.

“Everyone who has gone to Poole has struggled,” he said “Now their team has changed a little bit and they don’t have as strong reserves and hopefully that will play a massive part on Monday for our team.

“I think we need to go there and do our best at home and all us boys know what we need to do and I think we should be alright.

“I think our reserves are doing the job and that’s where we are coming away with the win.

“I think with Rohan (Tungate), Segdgey (Justin Sedgmen) and Charles (Wright) we have got some great reserves and now we just need to push forward.”
