SWINDON Robins team manager Alun Rossiter admits his side will have to be at their best if they are to continue their unbeaten run in the Elite League.

Last Thursday’s 45-45 draw away to King’s Lynn Stars saw Swindon return to the summit of the table, only to be replaced by Lakeside Hammers after their back-to-back wins over Leicester Lions over the weekend.

A win at the Abbey this afternoon for Swindon will see them regain their place at the top but the Robins welcome a dangerous outfit in the form of Poole Pirates.

Poole have dropped points in their last two meetings having been held to a 46-46 draw away to Leicester before falling at home to Belle Vue in front of the Sky cameras last Monday.

That result last week means that Neil Middleditch’s side have only picked up one point from their Monday meetings this season but Rossiter will not be taking the visitors lightly.

“It’ll be a tough one,” he said.

“The team moves around again, which is not ideal, in my opinion, but we’ve got to deal with what we’ve got.

“We’ll just move on and see how it goes.

“We beat Belle Vue on their own track and Poole are due in town and I am sure they will be scolded by last week’s result.

“We’ll just have to make sure we are ready for them.

“We owe them one for the last Bank Holiday and I know the boys are disappointed after the first meeting of the season and I am sure they will want to go an put things right.”

“The thing is, we’ve got to be positive and make sure that we can get something from it.”

Poole are hopeful of having Pole Krzysztof Buczkowski back fit again after he suffered a shoulder injury last weekend.

Middleditch has declared his full one-to-seven for Monday’s meeting but with another fresh set of averages coming into operation they see Kyle Newman move back to the reserve berth with Adam Ellis elevated into the main body of the side as the fourth ranked rider.

This afternoon’s meeting, which starts at 4pm, is being billed as a ‘Family Fun Day’ with children under 11 going free as well as rider signings and pre-race entertainment.

“We’ve got a big atmosphere,” added Rossiter.

“We’ve got plenty going on, like live music, face-painting, and a few bits and bobs, and a couple of riders doing autographs before the meeting, so it should be an excellent day, so hopefully, the weather’s good for us.”
