SWINDON Robins team manager Alun Rossiter believes some in his side are letting the team down after suffering back-to-back defeats against Poole Pirates.

Having been beaten by two points on Monday at the Abbey Stadium, Swindon were dealt a 50-40 defeat at Wimborne Road last night.

While Jason Doyle top scored with 13 points, the next highest riders were Josh Grajczonek, Nick Morris and Stefan Nielsen who all finished on five points.

The hosts has built up a 12-point advantage after maximums in the first three heats which Rossiter believes cost his side and he will now be looking for answers from his riders.

“I’m disappointed after that one,” he said. “We were slow out of the start and the first three races cost us because after heat four we would have won by two points.

“I can’t work it out. They know what they need to do and it is frustrating for me watching it.

“A couple of times we got caught in the wrong places and some of the riders should know a bit better.

“I was getting wound up myself but there it is no good getting wound up because you need to get the boys motivated and you need to get them going.

“We’re struggling in the middle order, they are not bringing enough points in.

“We can’t be relying on Jason all the time. Five points was the next top scorer and that is not good enough to be honest.

“They are good enough and they need to find it themselves and they need to up their game.”

Swindon have the chance to put things right immediately when they face Leicester Lions at the Abbey Stadium tonight.

Leicester sit bottom of the Elite League table having only won once so far this season but with that win coming at home to Swindon back in April, Rossiter know he can’t take this evening’s opponents too lightly.

“Hopefully we will bounce back,” he added. “We need some points (tonight) and Saturday after these last two results, that’s for sure.

“You can never take anything for granted in this sport and Leicester always run us close.

“It doesn’t matter who it is, we need to give them respect and come back with vengeance tomorrow.

“They have shown that they can beat us so we need to be on our game to get the three points.”
