WITH no meeting for the Swindon Robins this week, I am in Poland having signed for Falubaz Zielona Gora last week.

It’s a really good move for myself.

I wasn’t doing too much in Poland and they contacted me and wanted me to come and ride for them and link up with Jason Doyle.

I am here for the week practising and meeting the people who run the show and I hope I can do well for them.

Riding in Poland is pretty much completely different to riding in the UK.

You’ve still got to ride a speedway bike but the pressure is a lot more intense and there are bigger crowds and more money to be paid to the riders.

The tracks are bigger and you need good engines but it is just a matter of learning how to do it and then it soon becomes normal.

They get a big crowd and it is all on television.

I think there are things that speedway in the UK can learn.

The big difference is that clubs in Poland own the track so they can practise and there are no noise restrictions.

It makes it difficult for the UK to copy what they do.

There are things that are done better in Poland but in the same way there are things in the UK that are done better as well.

With the sport being so popular it makes it easier to attract the sponsors to pay the riders more money and with no restrictions on when they can ride makes it easier.

The UK is good because you get to race everybody twice home and away but in Poland they have one race night a week on a Sunday and they are getting paid big money to do it.

If the UK went to one night a week then I don’t think that crowds would change and it could make things better for TV.

But I get paid to ride the bikes not to make the sport better.

Back to Swindon, it was good to get back to winning ways against Leicester on Saturday.

The defeat to Leicester at home wasn’t very good so to win at their place and take some points back off them for the league table was good.

I think it was a must-win match to make up for the week that didn’t really go to plan.

To get an away win was very good and I think we have got more away points than we do at home at the moment.

I can’t explain why that is.

It is just one of those things and we have all forgotten about last week now and we now have a bit of a break until our next meeting.
