WE’VE got a couple of injuries in our ranks at the moment, with Rohan Tungate missing our last meeting at Leicester with a shoulder problem and Nick Morris hurting his ankle that evening.

When we are on the bikes, we all know the risks that can happen and injuries are just one of those things that are part of the sport, unfortunately.

Football players pull their hamstrings and calf muscles but unfortunately for motorcycle riders, the injuries we pick up seem to be a lot more damaging.

You don’t really think about things like that too much when you are on the bike but if it does happen, you just have to stay positive and hopefully get back as quickly as possible.

It’s more dangerous if you do start to think about it and with speedway bikes, you just have to be committed and as there are no brakes; you have to ride them on their limits.

You have to ride them with confidence and I actually think it is more dangerous to ride them conservatively.

If you are holding back, it makes it harder and more crashes probably happen if you start to worry about them.

Nick fell twice in that meeting at Leicester and you never want that to happen to anyone, so hopefully he can get back on the bike soon.

It was a pretty good performance from ourselves there, especially as we ended up finishing the meet with only five riders.

It is always nice to win away but we just need to get going at home now as I think we’ve actually picked up more points on the road than we have done at home. Hopefully, that can start against Lakeside this evening.

We haven’t had a meeting with Swindon for almost two weeks but we have kept busy.

I have been away in Poland. I practised for three days and then I rode on Sunday. Jason (Doyle) has been doing all his stuff and Josh (Grajczonek) and Rohan have their Premier League teams as well, so it’s not like we haven’t been riding.

The only one that will maybe not feel quite right this evening is Nick as when you are not riding, it’s a pain, but when you are hurt and not riding, it’s even harder.

I guess the good thing is that Swindon haven’t had a meeting, so he hasn’t missed out on getting paid!
