SWINDON Robins team manager Alun Rossiter is still trying to get his head around their recent form as they prepare to play host to Coventry Bees this evening.

The Robins saw the reverse fixture last Friday night called off just minutes before the start of the parade as Swindon saw their chances of building on their comfortable victory over Lakeside Hammers a week prior washed away.

That 11-point victory at home to Lakeside made it two wins on the bounce for Rossiter’s side as they looked to put a run of three defeats in the space of just four days behind them.

However, the Great Britain boss is still looking for more from his team and a win this evening against a Bees side who will be missing Jason Garrity could help put that mid-season blip to bed.

“I wouldn’t go as far as saying that we turned a corner last time at home against Lakeside, I think we’ve been doing okay there overall,” said Rossiter, with Garrity facing a month on the sidelines due to a crash last Monday at Leicester Lions.

“I still can’t work out why we were so bad against Leicester, Poole you can understand as they have got a very good side and we just didn’t get off to a good start, but the Leicester fixture we should never have lost.”

“They (Coventry) had a few changes to their usual team for Friday and Jason Garrity will still be out for Monday. I would say the only change will be Josh Bates will be back in for Adam Roynon but apart from that, I would say their team will be the same.

“They have got some good riders so whoever we are up against we know they will be a strong team and it should be a good meeting.”

Meanwhile, Rossiter is hoping that Jason Doyle will be leading from the front having got a much-needed confidence boost from his first Grand Prix series win in the Czech Republic little over a week ago.

“Jason was pretty bouncing when we got together on Friday,” he added.

“He has got a monkey off his back as everyone kept saying when is a win going to come?

“He has finally done it now and can just get on with his racing.

“We hope the rest of the guys in the team can feed off that buzz that he’s got right now, that’s the plan anyway.”

Tonight’s meeting, which starts a 7.30pm, is being shown on TV and Rossiter is looking forward to performing in front of a bumper crowd as a result.

“We’ve reduced the prices to £10, which is usually always good for the crowd, especially as we’ve got a meeting on Thursday too,” he said.

“With the TV cameras here it’s always a good night so hopefully we can put on a good show and get a good result.”
