ALUN Rossiter is eager to see Swindon Robins make a decisive more towards the Elite League play-offs ahead of a crunch week of action.

The Robins face a run of four meetings in five days, starting with a trip to table toppers Wolverhampton Wolves this evening.

Rossiter’s troops already sit second in the table and a hefty return of points this week would go a long way in locking down a top-four spot come the end-of-season play-offs.

Victory in Thursday’s home meeting against Belle Vue Aces is a bare minimum but Swindon team manager Rossiter is also keen to collect as many points as possible on the road, with visits to King’s Lynn Stars and Lakeside Hammers also lying in wait on Wednesday and Friday respectively.

“We are just looking to try to get some good points on the road and win our home meeting, although we expect a difficult one there against a good Belle Vue team,” said Rossiter.

“We are more than capable of doing well as we are second in the league and on a good run of form at the moment.

“If we can get some serious points, we will be right up there when it comes to the play-off places at the end of the season.

“It’s a tough one first up going to the league leaders and then it’s King’s Lynn away.

“That’s one that we’d probably look at and think we are capable of getting something out of but they are a good side and they’ve done well recently – Batch (ex-Robin Troy Batchelor) has started picking up some good points for them.”

After a week without a meeting, Rossiter concedes the impending schedule has not fallen kindly for his side and they are likely to travel to Lakeside at the end of the week without several of their riders due a fixture clash with Somerset Rebels in the Premier League.

However, Rossiter’s immediate focus is this evening’s clash at Monmore Green and the Robins chief is expecting a tougher examination than they got in the 50-41 victory at home last time out.

“This is what I get frustrated about, when you have weeks when it is all crammed in. You get no speedway for a week and then loads of meetings in the space of a week,” said Rossiter.

“It is what it is, we can’t do anything about it. It will be tough for the riders but we’ve just got to knuckle down and get on with it and do the best we can.

“We are more than capable of doing well up at Wolves but it’s one of those tracks that not everyone is comfortable on and they are not top of the league for no reason.

“They are a good side who are dominant on their own track, just like we were against them last Thursday. We go there expecting a tough meeting but want to win.”
