SWINDON Robins team manager Alun Rossiter is looking for his side to put it all on the line this evening in a meeting that could make or break their season.

The Robins head back to the Abbey after a 13-day break to get over a week that saw them fall to three defeats from four meetings, with the trip to King’s Lynn Stars abandoned.

The Stars are the guests this evening and with Rossiter’s side sitting precariously in the final play-off spot, with King’s Lynn two places and nine points behind, the Robins boss knows how important getting maximum points is.

“I don’t like using the cliché but it is a must-win meeting for us,” he said. “We have got to win because of what happened the week before the break we have just had.

“I need a couple of the riders to step up to the plate. Jason (Doyle) has been the talisman of the team and has been there every week and we need a little bit more consistency from the rest of the group.

“I know (Justin) Sedgmen has had a bit of trouble with engines that he has gone back and got fixed and I am expecting Rohan (Tungate) to come to the party at the Abbey.

“He has been good on the road but I want him to be a bit more dominant in Swindon.

“Nick (Morris) seems to have turned the corner a little bit, I think his form was down to a lack of meetings.

“They have had a week off to forget about the week before the break for the World Cup so they shouldn’t be smarting too much.”

While admitting that the week leading up to the World Cup was less than ideal for his club side, Rossiter is backing his side to do what is needed in the season run-in to claim a play-off berth.

“I’ve looked at maybe making one change but I have stuck with it now and I trust that these guys can do the job,” he added.

“With eight meetings left to go in the season, we have still got plenty of time.

“If we win this one and then follow that up with a win on Monday (at Coventry) then we have the chance to be right back in the fold.

“It has been tight the last couple of years. Every time, people keep writing us off and then we seem to pop up in the play-offs.

“I do need a response from the lads and they need to start to turn it on because we need to get to those play-offs and start with all three points tonight and not let them get a point.”
