IT’S BEEN a bit of a tough couple of weeks for me but in speedway, it’s one of those things that can happen sometimes.

Every rider goes through patches where they have a bit of a lull and it’s something that you have to deal with to try and get through.

I haven’t been doing that good recently and there can be a lot of different reasons for that but I think a lot of it’s down to not racing as much as I’d like to be.

Everyone knows how to ride a speedway bike but racing is a completely different thing and if you’re not racing as much as you want to be and everyone else is riding all the time, it can be tough.

The season hasn’t really come together properly for me and I’ve not had as many meetings as I’d like but when you turn up ready to race, it’s not like you’re stepping into the unknown.

When you end up having a bit of time off, all you can do is try and do as much as you can to prepare properly for when you do get back on a bike and that’s what I’ve tried to do for this week.

The only way you can get through it is by racing as much as you can and we’ve got three meetings in five days, so that’s exactly what I’m planning to do – that’s my plan.

Yesterday, I teed up a bit of practice at Somerset to try and get ready for King’s Lynn tonight.

I went to do a few laps and practice a few starts and things like that. I also wanted to try and tee up some practice in Poland (at Falubaz Zielona Gora) but they’ve had a lot going on recently, so that didn’t work out for me, but hopefully that work at Somerset will help.

We’ve definitely got some tough meetings coming up but I think if we can pick up a few points at King’s Lynn, maybe get a point at Belle Vue and win on Monday (against Poole Pirates), that would be an achievement in itself.

It’s going to be nice to have Stefan (Nielsen) back in the team but I know that Charles is out at the moment, so we’re not going to have our full side again – we can’t worry about that though and we’ve just got to get on with it.
