AUSTRALIAN Nick Morris is hoping time back home this Christmas will put him in the perfect shape to return to Swindon with a bang.

The 22-year-old is Down Under as he prepares to take part in the Australian Individual Speedway Championships in the new year, with round one taking place on January 4 at Gillman Speedway.

As well as enjoying the warmer climes of being back home, Morris is hoping that keeping himself busy will stand him in good stead.

“The weather is the main thing and coming home is always a good thing,” he told the Adver.

“I’m going to do a bit of racing out here and have got the Australian titles to focus on.”

British Speedway has undergone some of the biggest changes in recent times this season and while the jury is still out, Morris is sure it will work out for the better once they return to racing next year.

“There have been some extreme changes,” he added.

“I am not 100 per cent sure of how it is all going to work out.

“I don’t know too much of how it is going to play out.

“Every year they change (things) and they all work out all right and let’s hope it works out for the better this season.”

Swindon skipper Jason Doyle took to social media earlier this week to say that he had been given the all clear following an operation on his elbow and Morris is delighted to be riding alongside his fellow countryman again next term and hopes he can play a more substantial supporting role.

“Jason had an awesome year this year,” he said.

“If you’re having a tough night, you can guarantee he will be having a good night.

“Hopefully we have got a bit of bottom-man power too because last year he did all the work and we couldn’t carry him.

“We still couldn’t do the business so we need a bit more strength throughout next year and hopefully it works out better.”
