NICK Morris will be hoping to consolidate his lofty standing in the Australian Speedway Championship when he goes in round two of the competition tomorrow morning.

Swindon Robins youngster Morris heads to Olympic Speedway Park in the city of Midura, Victoria, sitting third in the rankings following Wednesday’s opening round.

The 22-year-old was in impressive form in his first meet of 2017, finishing fourth in the final in Adelaide after earlier claiming three wins from his five heat rides.

However, Morris actually came away from Gillman Speedway with the third most points on the night, collecting 14, three behind Davey Watt and former Swindon rider Justin Sedgmen, who are tied on 17 and the top of the leaderboard.

Tomorrow’s meeting in Midura is the second of four in this year’s Australian Championships, with rounds three and four taking place in Undera, Victoria, and Kurri Kurri, New South Wales, on January 11 and 14 respectively.
