NEW recruit David Bellego claims he has enjoyed smooth preparation for the start of the 2017 SGB Premiership campaign.

The 23-year-old Frenchman was the third rider to sign up for the Abbey Stadium side, following in the footsteps of skipper Jason Doyle and Adam Ellis.

The former French speedway champion has previously guested Blundson outfit, but now, having signed for the team, he is itching to get back on the track.

“When you work hard over the winter you can’t wait to get on the bike for the new season, I am definitely looking forward to it now,” said the 23-year-old, who has been practising with Ellis in France.

Despite this being his first season at this level Bellego was handed an average of 7.63, but he remains unfazed by the step-up he is making this year. “I know what I can do so it should be good,” he added.

“I definitely feel prepared, I’ve been going to the gym a lot in the winter so I am fit and I am ready bike-wise too.

“I have moved to Swindon and I am living with Nick Morris. The house is pretty good, I am really happy to be here and I am looking forward to the season. “

Bellego won the Premier League with Glasgow Tigers in 2011 and he also spent three years with Berwick Bandits but has set his sights on scoring points week in, week out for the Robins.

“I haven’t really spoken (to Rossiter) about my role yet, you want to score points,” said Bellego.

“That is what I try and do every time I am on the bike.

“I want to get as many points as I can, that is the deal.”

Bellego has also signed for KSM Krosno, who ply their trade in the Polish First League, in addition to Danish outfit Grindsted.
