SWINDON Robins reserve Zach Wajtknecht pulled off a superb performance to finish runner-up at the British U21 semi final on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old joint top scored with 12 points, but narrowly missed out on top spot on countback to Poole's James Shanes.

Wajtknecht is now through to the British U21 Final at Wimborne Road on Wednesday, April 26.

"This week is just manic - but that's the best way to be!" Wajtknecht said.

"I've got Lakeside press day Thursday morning, Swindon v Rye House Thursday night, two meetings for Lakeside on Friday and then Swindon v Poole on Sunday before another National League meeting on Monday.

"So to go into a schedule like that with a result like 2nd place in the U21s is brilliant.

"It was good to win some races again and it has boosted my confidence.

"I was disappointed with my performance at Rye House for Swindon on Saturday, but I was pretty pleased with how things had gone before that against Belle Vue and Leicester.

"I hope I can build on that start now and I'm looking forward to the rest of the season now."
