ALUN Rossiter hopes that Adam Ellis and Dany Gappmaier can translate their strong results elsewhere into decent points hauls once they return to Swindon Robins colours next week.

Ellis scored 12 points on Saturday to help Great Britain into the U21 World Cup final, while Gappmaier posted 11 points in Monday’s Grand Prix qualifying quarter-final in Germany.

With the Robins badly out of form in the SGB Premiership, having their last five fixtures, team manager Rossiter is eager for the duo to replicate those good performances when Swindon return to action at home to Rye House Rockets next Thursday.

“It was a good weekend for those two. We will just have to see what they do now and hopefully they can bring that form to the club,” said Rossiter. “I have got confidence in Adam and always have. He is starting to do it on the continent now and he is getting more rides in.

“I don’t know why it didn’t go well for him at the start of the season, I haven’t got a clue, but I have always been confident that he would come good.

“As for Dany, a lot of these tracks are new for him but he seems to be getting to grips with them. He’s a nice enough kid and he tries hard and as long as they are giving it 100 per cent, you can’t complain.”

Rossiter also revealed that the Robins’ SGB Premiership Knockout Cup semi-final against Belle Vue Aces is unlikely to take place until the back-end of the season.

The Robins thumped Rye House Rockets 100-80 on aggregate in the quarter-finals back in April, with Belle Vue also getting the better of Poole Pirates over two legs, although the sides are not expected to battle it out in the last four until September.

“We have got Belle Vue but we are still looking to find out when we actually will do it,” said Rossiter. “It will probably be towards the end of the season, around September time. If things don’t go to plan and we end up out of the play-offs, then it’s another thing we can focus on at the end of the year.

“I have got a couple of dates I am looking at and I am just running through them with Mark Lemon (Belle Vue team manager).”

Meanwhile, the Abbey Stadium has been chosen to host the National League Fours event on Sunday, July 9.
