SWINDON Robins team manager Alun Rossiter admits that the same result is far from assured tonight when they face the only side they have beaten at home so far this season.

Rossiter’s troops despatched Rye House Rockets 51-39 at the Abbey Stadium in the SGB Premiership Knockout Cup back in April but have failed to win any of the three league meetings held on their home track so far in 2017.

The Robins are currently on a five-match losing streak in the Premiership and have fallen to second from bottom in the table as a result of not riding since May 31.

Rossiter is desperate for his team to end their barren spell but is well aware that nothing can be taken for granted against a Rye House side that can boast the likes of Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris in their ranks.

“It’s been a bit frustrating and the rain-off against Somerset (on June 29) made things a bit awkward but we just have to get on with it and we need to get a win,” said Rossiter.

“Rye House ran us close last time they came here but we managed to move clear at the end – we don’t want to be leaving it late like we did last time.

“Knowing that we’ve beaten them at home before doesn’t really help us too much because they rode our track well last time and it was only in the latter stages that we pulled away.

“It’s going to be tough meeting because of our home form.”

Rossiter will be hoping that skipper Jason Doyle can pick up for the Robins where he left off on Saturday night after the Australian claimed his maiden Speedway Grand Prix success of the year in the Czech Republic.

Doyle produced a stunning ride off the unfavourable gate four in the final at Prague to claim victory and keep himself second in the world championship standings.

“Jason was outstanding. For somebody to make a gate off of gate four, which nobody did all night, is full credit to him,” added Rossiter.

“His sheer will and determination to win just shone through and he was absolutely outstanding.

“I can’t speak highly enough of his efforts and I think his laid-back approach, even though he probably beat himself up in the first heat for touching the tapes, helps him.

“He is certainly on his A game at the minute and we have got one of the top riders in the world.

“I have got no doubts about Jason’s performances for Swindon, we just need the other riders to step up to the plate.”
