JASON Doyle has not given up on competing in Saturday’s Danish Grand Prix despite suffering a foot injury last weekend and is set to test his fitness at the meeting’s practice session on Friday.

Swindon Robins skipper Doyle crashed while racing for Polish side Zielona Gora on Sunday, with reports in Poland suggesting that he had broken two metatarsals in his right foot.

The Australian missed fixtures for his Swedish team, Rospiggarna, on Monday and Tuesday, but Zielona Gora boss Marek Cieslak has revealed that Doyle will do is all to be on the startline for the GP in Horsens this weekend.

Doyle is currently second in the world championship standings, just a point behind leader Patryk Dudek, so his determination to race is understandable.

Cieslak told Polish sports news outlet Przeglad Sportowy that Doyle had initially feared he would be sidelined for three weeks but further tests have reduced those concerns.

“Doyle's injury is less serious than expected. He will not need an operation. Jason said that he is going to Horsens,” said Cieslak.

“On Friday he will take part in practice and then decide whether to start in Saturday's competition and possibly the league match with Leszno on Sunday.

“I believe that it will be good because the injury is not as serious as it seemed. Initially, it looked like three weeks off.”

Doyle is not due to ride for Swindon again until June 29 when they host Wolverhampton Wolves in the SGB Premiership.
