SWINDON Robins riders Jason Doyle, Nick Morris and Adam Ellis will go head-to-head in the World Cup on Saturday after being named in the Australia and Great Britain teams respectively for Event One at King’s Lynn.

Robins team manager Alun Rossiter has included youngster Ellis in his final five-man GB side ahead of this weekend’s fixture at the Adrian Flux Arena.

Craig Cook, who was crowned British champion for the first time last Monday, will captain the side, with Chris Harris, Steve Worrall and Robert Lambert also selected.

Doyle’s inclusion in the Australia side comes despite him carrying an injury at present, with the Swindon skipper suffering broken bones in his right foot in a crash in Poland last weekend.

The 31-year-old still made the final of Saturday’s Grand Prix in Denmark despite hobbling around the pits on crutches between races.

In the aftermath of that meeting, Robins boss Rossiter told the Advertiser that he expected Doyle to miss Swindon’s fixture at home to Wolverhampton Wolves in the SGB Premiership on Thursday and could also sit out the World Cup campaign as well.

However, Doyle now looks destined to be available for international duty after being named as the Aussie’s number one by team manager Mark Lemon.

Fellow Swindon rider Morris is also in that team, with Event One likely to be his first meeting back following a nine-day rest under concussion protocols.

Morris suffered a nasty fall while riding for Berwick Bandits in the SGB Championship on Friday and will definitely miss Swindon’s meeting with Wolves this week as a result.

Czech Republic and the USA complete the line-up for Event One at King's Lynn, with the meeting winners qualifying for the World Cup final in Poland on July 8 and the second and third-placed teams progressing to a last-chance qualifying Race-Off a day earlier.
