SWINDON Robins boss Alun Rossiter is urging fans to get behind his resurgent Robins side when they return to the Abbey tomorrow evening.

Since last week’s impressive home win against league leaders Belle Vue Aces, Swindon have taken 11 points from their three road trips to put themselves right back into the play-off picture.

That fine form continued tonight in emphatic style as Rossiter’s side completed a 56-36 victory over Poole Pirates to close the gap on the top two.

Frenchman David Bellego led the way at Wimborne Road with a paid 14 point performance and now team manager Rossiter wants the club’s fans to show their appreciation when they host Rye House Rockets this evening.

“Rye House is not going to be easy, we have just got to get there and make it 23 out of 24 points,” he said.

“Swindon fans have been asking for a team and we have got a team at the moment who are doing really well.

“I want them to come out and support us.

“If we can’t get a crowd (tomorrow night) then we might as well give up.

“We know we can’t let it slip against Rye House but we need the support to keep the club going.”

Swindon led from the start in Dorset last night and didn’t ease off the throttle as they capped a fine evening with a maximum in heat 15.

And having completed wins over Belle Vue and Leicester Lions in the last week, Rossiter puts it down to the momentum that keeps rolling into each meeting.

“I’m pretty happy with that performance,” he added.

“Poole seem to set the bar, everyone likes to aspire to be like Poole, but tonight and the last two weeks, we have just been on fire and the train is just carrying on.

“Everybody is confident, everyone is comfortable, we are riding within our means, we’re not doing anything silly and are just keeping it real and steady.

“We like to stay in front and keep the momentum going and I’m just over the moon.

“I thought we were in control all night. For the first time in a long, long time, I came down here and wasn’t stressed.

“I was comfortable all night and knew the boys were in control.”

Swindon also welcomed back skipper Jason Doyle last night, who, despite being on crutches in the pits, secured a nine-point haul and Rossiter admitted it was great for the team to have their leader make his return.

“He was fantastic tonight,” he said.

“He just calmed everybody down and rode absolutely brilliantly and for a guy who has been injured, that is amazing.

“His foot is still very swollen. Full credit to Jason, he has been immense and he is one hell of a machine.”
