ALUN Rossiter is well aware that Poole Pirates will arrive this evening with revenge on their mind against his Swindon Robins side.

Swindon are on a stunning seven-meeting winning streak in the SGB Premiership at present, with the sixth of those having come in emphatic fashion against the Pirates last Wednesday.

The Robins, who are up to third in the table as a result of their fine form, were in unstoppable mood from the outset that night at Wimborne Road and eventually pummelled Poole 56-36.

Poole have been the dominant force in British speedway in recent years, winning the top division title in four of the last six seasons, so being the recipient of such a heavy defeat will be as unfamiliar as it is unacceptable.

Rossiter therefore expects Neil Middleditch’s men to come to the Abbey Stadium eager to make a statement and set the record straight.

“They will be wounded. We have just got to make sure there is no backlash and keep doing what we have been doing for the last few weeks, it’s as simple as that,” said Rossiter.

“It’s not very often they are on the receiving end of a result like that, they normally do it to everyone else. They will not be used to having it done to them and they will want to get one over on us this time.”

With his team having not lost a meeting since May 31, Rossiter admits the mood in the Robins camp is sky high at present.

New signing Tobiasz Musielak has proved to be an instant success, while skipper Jason Doyle continues to defy injury to lead the world championship standings.

Although delighted with the contribution of all of his riders, Rossiter knows that they must remain focussed as a dip in form could well see their play-off ambitions undone.

“It’s going really well and we have just got to keep it going. To take 23 out of the last 24 points available was pretty spectacular,” said Rossiter.

“We are in a good place but we can’t afford any more slip-ups after all these good wins we’ve had.

“We have moved the rider order around a little bit and everyone knows what their role is and what they have got to do. Everybody is chipping in and doing their bit so it’s looking pretty good for us at the moment.”
