IT’S horrible to hear what has happened to Zach Wajtknecht and it just shows how brutal our sport can be with injuries.

It must be really tough for him to have his season cut short like this and I have spoken to him a few times to make sure he is getting on OK.

It was a really nasty crash in our meeting against Poole last Thursday and I went out and saw him on the track as soon as it happened.

I also saw him in the medical room at the Abbey and then again in the ambulance. I have spoken to him a couple of times on Facebook over the past week as well just to make sure he is keeping his spirits up.

It’s such a horrible thing to happen and I am gutted for him. Zach is pretty much my best mate in the team, so it is really nasty to see that happen to him.

He is definitely going to be missed in the team because he has been improving all season. He has been going so well lately and he is going to be quite hard to replace.

We will miss him but we have just got to get on with it now. It’s done and we can’t do anything about it.

Hopefully it is not going to affect the team too much and we can just carry on doing what we have been doing.

Hopefully we can get a good replacement or a strong guest in at each meeting and find someone who can go out and score a few points regularly.

The timing is really bad because things have been going so well for us. Everyone in the team has improved and stepped it up a bit and we are on a real run of high confidence.

We are back on track tonight at King’s Lynn and will have Zach in our thoughts. We have just got to carry on doing what we have been doing and try to keep getting the wins for him.

We haven’t got that many meetings left before the end of the season so the goal is to stay in the top four and get into those play-offs.

Tonight is my first meeting since last Thursday and it’s been good to get a whole weekend off.

I have just been chilling out, relaxing and spending a bit of time with my girlfriend and her family. It’s been nice to be away from it for a few days.

We don’t get too much down time during the season so it’s important to make the most of it when you get it.
