AFTER a stalled attempt at getting back on the track on Thursday night, Swindon Robins were able to record their 12th consecutive SGB Premiership win this evening with a thumping success away at Somerset Rebels.

Swindon skipper Jason Doyle returned to action after missing the last two meetings for Alun Rossister’s side and avoided defeat to a Rebels rider to register an 11+1 points haul.

David Bellego topped the scoresheets with 12, while Tobiasz Musielak (11+2) and Adam Ellis (11) also hit double figures as the Robins remain sitting pretty at the top of the table.

The Robins made the perfect start in the opening heat at the Oaktree Arena as Doyle came flying out of the blocks to take the lead, while Musielak battled hard for second.

In the second heat, it was Lewis Kerr who claimed the win for the home side as Ellis collected second place, while James Sargeant, who was guesting at reserve for the visitors, failed to register. Heat three was a level affair, Bellego making a great start for Rossiter’s troops but the Frenchman was unsupported by Bradley Wilson-Dean, who came in fourth.

Nick Morris and Lewis Kerr went head-to-head in the fourth and despite the Australian’s efforts, the home rider was able to hold him off to claim the chequered flag as Sargeant claimed his first point of the night with the score reading 13-11 in the Robins’ favour.

Next up was Swindon’s big hitters in Doyle, who was still sporting crutches ahead of the meeting, and Musielak and the duo registered a 4-2 heat win as the Aussie picked up the win.

Just over before the halfway point, Ellis did fantastically well to keep his nerve against home skipper Josh Grajczonek, who was snapping at his heels throughout as Morris came third.

Seven heats deep and Bellego snuck around on the outside, while Wilson-Dean made good progress on the inside as another heat ended in a draw.

Musielak was terrific from the outset in heat eight as he stormed clear of the other three for a race win but Sargeant struggled at the back of the pack.

Swindon were looking comfortable with a six-point lead as the evening began to draw to a close at a windy Oaktree Arena and Ellis made the best start to heat nine, holding off the chase of Wright, although Morris trailed home in fourth.

Somerset threatened a fightback when they claimed a 5-1 win in heat 10 through Grajczonek and Kerr but Swindon retaliated superbly in the next as Musielak and Doyle replied with a maximum of their own to re-establish the cushion.

In the 12th heat, Ellis tried his best to snap at the heels of Wright, but was unable to catch him as Wilson-Dean snatched third after Kerr’s bike packed up.

Swindon’s Australian contingent were then ruthless throughout heat 13 to register a timely 5-1 as Rossiter’s men stretched their lead to 10 points with two races to go.

Flying Frenchman Bellego pulled another blinder in the 14th race to take the overall meeting win for the Robins and after he and Musielak were given the nod for the finale, they repaid the faith in perfect fashion as Swindon signed off the night with another maximum win.
