SWINDON Robins’ Mitchell Davey admits it’s frustrating to see the club’s Knockout Cup double-header with Rye House Rockets postponed due to the weather.

The quarter-final away leg in Hertfordshire, scheduled for noon today, was the first to be called off yesterday, but with more rain also due in Swindon, the meeting at the Abbey Stadium was also chalked off, with the next home meeting is now against the Leicester Lions in the SGB Premiership on Thursday, April 12.

The clash with the Lions, was due to take place last week but also fell victim to the weather.

After making a decent start to life at the Abbey Stadium, Davey says it is less than ideal to have the weather interrupt the club’s schedule.

“It’s an awkward position to be in. When you’re on a good run of form you what to keep going,” he said.

“At the same time, if the track isn’t in good condition and you do ride, that can also upset your rhythm.

“You just have to take it on the chin and hope that you can keep up the form when we get back racing again.

“It’s unfortunate that it has been cancelled because we haven’t had much of a chance to get out on the track, but with the same token, I have done three races there now, two last year and one this year.

“I don’t think it has been too bad, so I’ll try not to think about it too much going into the league fixtures.”

After being one of the two changes Alun Rossiter made to his septet, Davey said it has been an easy transition to life at the Abbey Stadium.

“Being in Swindon has been an eye opener, obviously, it is a step up in the league for me,” he added.

“I’ve been accepted and treated exceptionally well and there are a lot of positives. I’m really enjoying it.

“There is a great bunch of guys here and that made settling in really easy. I met them all last year so there was no need for introductions at the start of the season.”
