TOBIASZ Musielak says his thoughts remained with friend and former teammate Martin Vaculik after the Slovakian was hospitalised following a crash at the Abbey Stadium last night.

Vaculik was one of three riders to fall on the third bend of the opening heat between Swindon Robins and Leicester Lions, before the meeting was called off due to poor weather conditions.

Vaculik and Lions teammate Michael Palm Toft both suffered injuries in the fall, while Swindon duo Nick Morris and Adam Ellis got through unscathed, Morris having himself fallen out in front before he and Lions’ captain Danny King agreed to bring the meeting to a premature end.

“I always think positively. I am trying to think positively even though the meeting was cancelled and my friend Martin is going to hospital,”

“I wish him good luck in his recovery. We have to live with this. I know Martin very well, I have ridden with him in Sweden many times on the same team. He is a good man and he’s easy to speak to and I like him very much.”

Musielak, who became a full-time member of Alun Rossiter’s septet this season, is based in Poland and flies in for meetings in England.

The 24-year-old revealed the club help cover the cost of his flights to and from England, but admitted the situation was less than ideal.

With just two meetings under their belts so far this season, which started on March 19, Musielak says it is a frustrating situation to be in, but admits there is little anyone can do to improve it.

“Of course it is frustrating that another meeting has been called off, but the decision was the right one,” he said.

“There was a chance to race the meeting because the weather was okay, but it is not easy for us, the fans and it is not easy for the club either.

“The club help pay for my flights and everything, they fix everything and sort it all out for me and I thank them for that. It is always bad when you come over to race and then you can’t because of the weather.

“We know how it has been in England over the last three weeks, it is hard but we can’t fight the weather and we are going to have to wait for the sun.”

Swindon will hope for better conditions next Wednesday, as they travel to face Poole Pirates, before hosting King’s Lynn a day later.
