LAST week was another disappointing one for the Swindon Robins after our meeting was abandoned at home to Leicester Lions.

I’ve only been in speedway for a couple of years, but that was one of the strangest scenarios I have seen so far, with the weather being the way it was.

We walked the track and it all seemed good, and I don’t think anyone could have predicted what was going to happen next.

Obviously we wanted to race. The weather deteriorated and with the fog I don’t think you really see how much it affected the track, unlike if it had just been raining.

The fog was there all evening and the visibility was okay, because you could still see, I just think the fog came down into the track.

I didn’t see the crash personally but I wish the two Leicester riders all the best in their recovery.

I watched the start and the first corner, then I went to go and get ready for my race.

As I went to jump down I heard the crowd were a little bit shocked, so I jumped back up but couldn’t see anything.

With the meeting being abandoned, it means we have only had one meeting at home as well as our press and practice, which is a slight concern.

I’m not sure if it is too much of a worry. You could say it is a worry but then again, not many teams have had a lot of racing this year.

Me, Adam Ellis and Nick Morris have all been quite lucky really because we have had three or four meetings with Lakeside.

From a Swindon perspective I think it is good the three of us are all racing regularly for the same team, we are all doing well and we chill out together a lot too.

It can only be a good thing if you are racing with people you know and people you get on with.

Obviously we have only had three or four meetings at Lakeside and two for Swindon, we should have had more meetings than that by now.

It probably means there will be a back log which will make the season longer.

In one way, when visiting teams come here it is new to them and it is still our home track.

We have only had one meeting at the Abbey Stadium with how the weather has been but there isn’t a lot we can do, we just have to get on with it.
