MADS Korneliussen says the weight is off his shoulders for tonight’s Elite League Pairs Championship at Ipswich.
The Dane received a late call-up for the meeting after Robins number one Leigh Adams pulled out due to personal reasons, and Korneliussen is now relishing the chance to take on the top riders in Britain at the recently-revamped Foxhall circuit.
He will take to the track with Grzegorz Zengota, also a last-minute replacement, this time for for Simon Stead.
Stead missed last night’s draw at Lakeside through illness and the decision was made to have Zengota represent the Robins instead.
“I don’t think there’s any pressure on me at all, I’m just going there to enjoy it,” revealed Korneliussen.
And when asked who would be Swindon’s main rivals for the pairs title, Korneliussen said: “It definitely will be Poole, they are going good at the minute.
“And I think Ipswich are very good at home and even Lakeside could surprise.
“It is a big meeting, you will have all the heat leaders there and there will be no easy rides.
“After they changed the shape of the Ipswich track I have really enjoyed racing there so I’m just looking forward to it.”
The Foxhall circuit was changed for the start of this season in an attempt to create more racing lines.
