Swindon set to sell Miedzinski

SWINDON Robins are set to cash in on Polish asset Adrian Miedzinski after he turned down a place in Alun Rossiter’s 2012 side.

The 26-year-old was offered the chance to return to Blunsdon having not raced in a Robins jacket since 2006, but after initially showing an interest, eventually decided he could not commit to riding regularly on Thursday nights due to commitments in Poland on Fridays.

Miedzinski has since told Rossiter he wants to join another Elite League Club, and the Robins will now look to sell him rather than loan him out.

“Adrian would have been a great signing for us because he would have had a great chance to improve on his average by a fair amount,” Rossiter told the Advertiser.

“We offered him a place and he showed some initial interest, but he said he it would be a problem having to practice in Poland on Fridays.

“He has since told us he wants to join another club in the Elite League though.

“In normal circumstances we would have been happy to loan him out like everybody else does, but the potential for him to raise his average is so great that we would not see any benefit from doing that.

“Swindon Robins will not gain anything from him pushing his average up elsewhere, so the best thing to do would be to sell him.

“We are not going to kick up a fuss, though, we only want riders who want to be here, and I am happy with the side we have put together so far.

“We wish him all the best, and there are no hard feelings.”

Meanwhile, Robins will begin their 2012 Elite League campaign with home and away meetings against Birmingham, at Blunsdon on Thursday April 5, and at Perry Barr the following night.

Alun Rossiter will go head to head with former employers Coventry Bees in a home televised meeting on Monday April 16, and will also face the Bees on August 30, the final scheduled regular season meeting of the season.

Robins will meet Lakeside, Poole, Birmingham, Kings Lynn and Coventry four times in 2012, but will only come up against Peterborough, Wolverhampton, Eastbourne and Belle Vue twice.

Rossiter is happy with his side’s fixture schedule and is looking forward to putting his new look team to the test.

“Birmingham are shaping up to be a good side this season, so it will be good to face them early on and test ourselves,” Rossiter said.

“Lakeside and Coventry are looking strong too, and Poole will always be dark horses because they will make changes if it is not going well. It is shaping up to be a good year this year.”

Thats Poole tapping him up. He turns down Swindon because they have got to him. Thats where he will end up.

Pirates are the right name for em. But Kings Lynn could also be chasing him. Shame about this one but i seem to remember he was not that special on small tracks

He's not going to King's Lynn as they have announced their full side, which includes Swindon's Maciej Janowski on loan! If Poole do get Adrian Miedzinski then they will only use him for a year as they will take advantage of his low average! How many one year wonders have you seen at Poole over the last few seasons!

Ah caught up with the BSPA site. Magic will probably do well at the Lynn track find he likes it and never come back. Lakeside look good along with Wolves.
I think Magic situation has not been right since he was dropped

To retain Steady and release the world under 21 champ is crazy. Would Poole have retained Davey Watt rather than Darcy Ward? No chance. Steady is not going to improve whereas Magic has endless potential. Bad choice.

Is Janowski actually a Swindon asset? I have not seen anywhere that he is on loan and Gary Patchett does not say in his clarification of the Robins position on him that he is on loan.
If he is a Swindon asset then it is extraodinary that he is not in Swindons line-up! Hey but what do we know this is Speedway UK style and nothing should surprise us.

I think losing the hottest potential in World speedway and retaining Stead and bringing in Doyle is a big mistake. Magic proved on his night he could beat anyone and now u21 is out for the way he would only get better. The way things look he is no longer a Swindon asset but one must remember with one promotor going out he will want to cash in on his investments. At present we now have no rising stars and I feel most of our riders will not up their average this year

The main part of the link above is this
"The final members of the team include World U21 Champion Maciej Janowski on loan from Swindon while former Star Daniel Nermark rejoins the club having spent last season with Birmingham."
I would rather have seen Maciej back as his away scoring would be better than Simon's but I think the main deciding factor that Swindon went with Steady is the amount of meetings Maciej was going to miss. We suffered quite a few times with this 2011 and also Maciej new Polish club Tarnow are prone to messing riders around as Birmingham found out with Krzyzstof Kasprzak!!
