Alden back for Robins

SEBASTIAN Alden will return to the Swindon Robins for the upcoming Elite League campaign after signing on loan from Berwick Bandits.

The Swedish rider spent a couple of years in Wiltshire after first signing for the Robins back in 2005, but has been with Premier League outfit Berwick for the last year.

“He went away from Swindon but I feel he will come back better and stronger,” said boss Alun Rossiter.

“He has grown up and is a lot more mature now, because he is that bit older and wiser and I am sure that he will do a great job.

“He has shown in flashes what he is capable of in the past.

“He will double up with Jason Doyle and it is up to Seb now to show what he can do.”

The signing of Alden follows the capture of Doyle last week, who has moved to Swindon from reigning Elite League champions Poole Pirates last week.

Meanwhile, Swindon’s World Under-21 Champion Maciej Janowski has joined Elite League rivals King’s Lynn for the 2012 Elite League season.

Robins co-promoter Gary Patchett has clarified the club’s position with the Polish star, who was very much in various team permutations for next year.

But after due consideration, Robins elected to take a different route with their 2012 plans, with Janowski’s racing commitments in his home country also a factor in that decision.

Patchett said: “Ideally we would have liked to see Magic return in 2012 but a combination of factors prevented that.

“We were concerned that there may be availability issues with Magic switching clubs in Poland and moving to Tarnow.

“Birmingham had major problems last season with Krzyzstof Kasprzak riding for the same club and that was a risk we didn’t want to take.

“We could also have used Magic ahead of Jason Doyle but we were all agreed that it was important to keep Peter Kildemand at reserve, and the balance of the top five was better served with two five-point riders in the last two positions.

“We are delighted to see that Magic has secured a team place elsewhere and wish him well for next season.

“He flew around King’s Lynn last year and that is clearly what attracted Buster and Jonathan (Chapman).”

was magic also a doubling up rider ? if he was , there would have been cover already in place for a rider with real potential, again Swindon seem to take two steps forward and three back.
