ALUN Rossiter has talked up his two latest signings and believes both have the talent to cause a stir in the Elite League.
The Robins have brought in doubling-up men Robin Aspegren and Kenny Ingalls for the 2012 season, the latter returning to the club after being number eight last campaign.
Swede Aspegren is set for his first season in the British top-flight and will combine his Swindon duties with riding for Newport in the Premier League.
And Rossiter reckons that the 22-year-old, who won the Premier League Knockout Cup in 2011, can score heavily from reserve when given the chance in Robins kevlars.
He said: “I put my feelers out on Aspegren with two or three of my contacts in Sweden, and they told me he’s a bit of a goer.
“I’m always looking for a rider with potential and he’s certainly one with massive potential.
“He’s not afraid to get stuck in and is a gutsy rider, which is what you’re looking for, certainly in the Elite League.”
Rossiter admitted that his experience of Ingalls was limited as he was Coventry manager when the American arrived at Blunsdon this year.
But he reckons the 24-year-old, who is to ride for Workington in the Premier League, is a useful proposition.
“I didn’t have anything to do with Kenny last season, but getting feedback from different promoters, they seem quite positive about him and he’s certainly improved,” continued Rossiter.
“He only got three points in a meeting at Poole but I spoke to Matt Ford and he was quite impressed with him.
“He had a problem with injury last year but when he came back he had eight or nine points in one meeting at Swindon, so the potential is obviously there.”
With the signings of Aspegren and Ingalls, Swindon have just one more recruit to bring in before their team is completed, as they are not running with a number eight.
The promotion are very much on the case with the final piece of the jigsaw and the new man is expected to be unveiled in the next couple of weeks.
Meanwhile, Rossiter has outlined his desire to get Swindon into the top two of the 2012 Elite League, although he admitted he would be delighted just to get a play-off place.
“The goal is top two, you really don’t have to win it, as I proved in 2010 with Coventry,” he said.
“The main goal is to get to the play-offs but getting to the top two is the one you’re really looking for.
“It’s either/or really, it’s not a massive problem.
“It is just a matter of getting into the play-offs and from there, anything can happen.”
