Promising would be the word that I would use to describe the start of our Elite League campaign against the Belle Vue Aces on Thursday night.
On a night of exciting racing, including three tremendous battles between our captain and World No 2 Leigh Adams and his Aussie rival, ex-World champion Jason Crump, we were firstly entertained, then apprehensive when the Aces got it back to 21 points apiece after heat seven.
Finally we were satisfied with the deserved six-point victory.

Special mention must go to Cory Gathercole who came in at No 8 and showed what could be achieved with sheer guts and determination.
His edge-of-your-seat riding style ended up with a first-bend spill in his final outing - but had previously delighted the fans when he not once but twice came from behind to share in the heat two 5-1 with Seb Alden.
Cory was in to replace our Dutch reserve Theo Pijper, who was involved in an unfortunate crash the previous Thursday and is now looking at an extended absence due to his collarbone and wrist injuries.
The Robins Pit Crew (the official supporters club) were pleased to be able to present a cheque of £200 to Theo at the end of the meeting to help towards the machinery costs incurred by his accident.
We are also encouraging fellow Robins' supporters to join us for our next quiz night on Wednesday April 16 (8pm) at the New Inn where all proceeds from this night will also be donated to Theo.
Looking forward, it is the Elite League Best Pairs at King's Lynn tonight and surely another early-season opportunity to add to the silverware cabinet.
With both Robins Leigh Adams and Troy Batchelor enjoying success during their time at the Norfolk-based club they will know the quickest way around the Saddlebow Road circuit.
Competition will be fierce, with the pairs from Poole, Belle Vue and Eastbourne potentially being the ones to watch.
But all Robins fans will be hoping that the Pairs trophy will be coming back to Wiltshire and make it a trio of wins since Swindon have returned to the top league.
