ENDURANCE swimmers contested races over four separate distances at the Cotswold Open Water Swim on Sunday.

Organisers Events Logic UK set up races over 10km, 5km, 3.8km and 1.5km and Ruth Hall triumphed over the longest distance.

The unattached swimmer led the field from start to finish and averaged just under 15 minutes per kilometre as she finished in 2:28:35.60.

That was more than 13 minutes clear of Claire Palfrey with Tata Multisport’s Martyn Powell a further 12 minutes behind.

Katie Nimmo of Gloucester Masters splashed her way round to top spot in the 5km (1:05:02.65), with Paul Shephard second and last year’s 10km champion John Wood completing the rostrum places.

Ironman athlete Chris Stuart (Army Tri) won the 3.8km race in 50:40.65, followed in by the unattached Mark Richards and Cycology Bikes’ Michael Milstead.

The 1.5km race saw a tense finish in both the men’s and women’s contests.

Justin Palfrey finished in 19:37.50, some 27 seconds ahead of Ross Kent, while Natalie Thomas just about grabbed third after finishing 0.3 seconds ahead of Lucy Brain in fourth.

Events Logic UK will host an end-of-season standard triathlon at Ashton Keynes on Sunday, September 15.
