JAZZ Carlin has been named in the British squad for this summer’s FINA World Championships in Kazan.

The 24-year-old sealed her place after winning British titles over 200 metres, 400m and 800m freestyle at London’s Aquatics Centre last week.

She will focus on her leading events in Russia in August - she is European champion over 400m and 800m, in which she is also Commonwealth gold medallist - and hopes to race in the 4x200m relay.

The Swindon star is now set to enjoy some brief respite before pressing on with her bid for world glory.

“It’s nice to relax and put my feet up for a couple of days and enjoy the sunshine,” said Carlin.

“It’s quite a chilled week and the proper hard work starts next week.

“I’m looking forward to getting my head down in training. It’s a lot easier in the summer months getting up at 5am.

“Everyone that’s training for the World Championships wants to be on the podium.

“I just want to be at my best, doing best times. I’m definitely capable of doing some good things in the pool.”

Carlin will be pleased with her current positions in the world rankings, with little more than a year until the Rio Olympics.

Her 400m freestyle time of four minutes and 03.51 seconds over 400m freestyle places her second in the world this year whilst she is third in the 800m rankings (8:21.58).
