SWINDON swimmer Jazz Carlin has said that everything she does this summer is geared towards her being at her best come the World Championships.

The 24-year-old has been with the British Swimming National Team camp at their base in Vichy, France, ahead of the Mare Nostrum Series.

The first stop on the series for the Tigersharks swimmer will be this weekend in Canet-en-Roussillon before the Barcelona leg on June 10 and 11.

After claiming a hat-trick of gold medals at the British Championships in April to add to her Commonwealth and European Championship titles, Carlin has the Worlds firmly in her sights.

"We have had the national camp with British Swimming so that will be the whole team for the World Championships," said Carlin.

"Then we'll go in to race the main competition but it is all towards the Worlds; a few competitions here and there but a lot of it will be big training, getting me ready for the Worlds.

"I think at the Worlds, there are going to be a lot of girls who are very close time-wise.

"I just focus on myself really. I always have a look at the other girls in the world to see how they are doing but for me, it is about trying to be the best that I can be and working on my race plan.

"Obviously, you want to be the best and you want to try and be on the podium, so everything is going to be focused on trying to do the best at the Worlds."

Carlin, who recently relocated to Bath be closer to her training facility, the National Centre for Swimming at the University of Bath, will also be looking to enjoy her time at the World Championships.

The former Wootton Bassett School pupil will head to Kazan, Russia, at the end of July and hopes that the size of the occasion will help in her preparations for her ultimate goal, the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro next year.

"It is still a few months away and there is still a lot of work I need to be doing but I feel like I have still got a lot more to bring to the table and being back in Bath now will definitely help,” said the four-time Commonwealth Games medallist.

"I can finally get settled instead of living out of a suitcase every week.

"It is just about making sure that I am ready for it. It is going to be in a big arena and you don't want to let the event get to you.

"It is a big event, probably the closest you can get to an Olympics really, so it is just about going and enjoying it.

"I am at that age now where I am not one of the young ones and I do want to be enjoying the competitions that I race in.

"I am really excited to go there and to work hard in training and put everything into the next few months."
