Di Canio also revealed Paul Caddis is no closer to sealing a permanent move to Birmingham, while offers have been received for Aden Flint.
STALLED: Paul Caddis
“We agreed a deal in some way, but we receive they can not buy him now. At the moment they say no, and 99% not for the rest of the month. We are happy to keep Rooney here to the end of the year.
“Aden Flint is an important player because Troy is out, but we received a request from clubs ready to spend money and it is one option, probably the main one, because there is this opportunity.
“If possible I want to bring in another player.
“If we have to send out all the loan players it would be the worst madness in the world.
“It is something I do not understand because I do not want to burn my brain, I don’t want to spend energy thinking about why.”
5:46pm
Paolo Di Canio has also said he would be willing to put his own money into the club to ensure Town can keep the likes of Chris Martin, John Bostock and Danny Holllands.
AUTO-FINANCE: PDC
“I will do everything.
“I will do everything, even put in my money and I am not joking.
“I will put in something which is mad to keep those players.
“Now I am here I am not a passive manager, because it is a shame to lose these players in this moment.
“In this atmosphere it is a shame, and it is not a provocation.
“I will put my money to keep them as long as we can, because I care and I want to win.
“With them we have more chance and I will do my best.
“I have to try and do something and I can not do anything in this moment.”
“I have to go step by step by priority, and it is obvious Danny Hollands and Chris Martin want to stay desperate, and in the last few game do more and more.”
“I am not going to sell my houses, but if it is enough £30,000 I will put, £300,000 is stupid.
“In terms of £20,000 or £30,000 I will for sure because I have ambition. When I did I want to have less money and more success.
“I spent big money on solicitors, so I will for players.
“Tonight and tomorrow I hope to receive some phone call, and the last three win should change someone else’s opinion.
“I have to find another way to keep this group.”
5:31pm
The Town boss was pleased with the way his side scored their goals this afternoon.
“All of the goals came from the movement, and it came from the training session so thanks to them.
“The first one from a simple throw in made me happy because it was a fantastic goal, but because Andy, after a few months, didn’t sleep in the ground and asked the ball and not wait for the ball. That made me happy because sometimes he waits for the ball to arrive to him.
“Everybody is starting to understand what we do and how we can arrive.
“The other goals were beautiful, and there were many situations where I thought it was not easy to make 15 or 16 clear chances and another 20 potential where we didn’t pass the ball well.
“I want to see us suffer more and win five or six games 1-0, and that would give me a final answer and show the maturity is complete.”
5:28pm
Di Canio has previously stated how he believes it will be tough for Town to stay at the top end of League One, but he has now changed his opinion.
PAOLO DI CANIO
“We brought in two lads that are very good in integrating themselves because they are not arrogant, and they brought a quality, professionalism, desire and competition.
“My players turned my opinion, and it’s obvious the big surprise is to win and score 14 goals, because even the top team in the world should expect to give something away, Barcelona.
“The players want to make sure they take the information on the field, and that shows 10 steps forwards and they feel their responsibily.
“But they are not tense and are cool in what they are doing, and they are a real group and a team.
“In the way we reached the level made me very happy and positive, if we can maintain this group.”
5:16pm
Town boss Paolo Di Canio is speaking to the media, and joked today's 4-0 is a step back from their two recent 5-0 home wins.
HAPPY: PDC
“This is one step back, no it was the best performance of the season because it came after two 5-0 at home.
“It was against a side who was a banana skin, and we didn’t fall in the trap which is why I am very happy.
“My players pushed to score a goal, but not one chance for our opponents.
“I am happy with the way we played because there is not one player who upsets me and every single one did a fantastic job and I am very happy.
“We have to also think in the future we want the same support when we are 1-0 down.
“Every game is a big game, and it is thanks to the job the players did.
“We play Bournemouth next week which is a very key game, and thanks to them I gave them a longer rest, one day.”

FULL-TIME: Swindon Town 4 Carlisle United 0
It may not have been five, but it was still pretty good. Better all-round performance than against Portsmouth I would say, as Town dominated for all 90 minutes.
4:51pm
90+1 minutes: A bit of head tennis in the penalty area as Town go for their fifth, and Roberts heads only inches wide.
4:50pm
89 minutes: Collins wins a free-kick on the edge of the box, and Roberts free-kick is deflected behind for a corner. Devera heads De Vita’s set-piece wide.

4:42pm
81 minutes: Martin drags a shot wide
4:41pm
80 minutes: GOAL 4-0 TOWN (De Vita) Roberts cuts inside and shoots left-footed, and after Gillespie makes a save the ball bounces back to De Vita, who has the easiest of tasks.

ADVER SPORTS WRITER ANDY WARREN: Andy Williams and James Collins are working together superbly this afternoon, just like they did at the start of the season. The pace of Williams and power of Collins is causing the Carlisle defence problems, and forcing them out of shape with wave after wave of attack. But for a litttle more composure the lead could be even more, but Town are looking very comfortable.

HALF-TIME: Swindon Town 2 Carlisle United 0
Goals from Andy Williams and James Collins give Town a comfortable lead at the break.
3:45pm
42 minutes: Town work the ball into the area and have at least five opportunities to shoot, but choose not to and the chance is gone. Three minutes added.
3:43pm
40 minutes: Robson has the visitors’ first shot, and it is very wide.
3:42pm
39 minutes: Collins zips a cross through the six-yard area, but there is no-one there.
3:40pm
37 minutes: GOAL 2-0 TOWN (Collins) Great ball into the six-yard box from Ritchie allows Collins to thump a header home. No more than Town have deserved.
3:35pm
Town looking pretty comfortable so far, but should be more than 1-0 up.
3:32pm
30 minutes: Collins superbly holds off his man on half-way to free Roberts, but after the pair charge into the Carlisle box the winger’s pull-back is perhaps a little late. The striker does get a shot off, but it is cleared off the line by Matty Robson.

3:24pm
21 minutes: Town are free again through Williams who pulls it back for Collins, the striker slips before getting a shot off which is blocked.
3:21pm
19 minutes: Collins miscues a shot which falls to Williams, and the striker’s effort hits Murphy but Town’s appeals for handball are waved away.
3:19pm
16 minutes GOAL 1-0 TOWN (Williams): Great finish from the striker who lifts McCormack’s throw over the head of his marker before finding the back of the net.
3:16pm

BREAKING NEWS: Rockin Robin has sustained an injury over the festive period and will not be in action today.......shame.
2:47pm
DANGER MEN
Lee Miller
The Scot plays a vital role in everything the Cumbrians try to do, and is the spearhead of their 4-3-3 formation. Although not blessed with pace, the big striker likes the ball into feet and looks to free his teammates when possible. The former Aberdeen man returned from injury recently, and has instantly shown why he has been sorely missed.

Matty Robson
The left-sided player is a seasoned performer in the bottom two divisions, having played well over 100 games for both Carlisle and former club Hartlepool. Although more regularly a left-midfielder this season, Robson has switched to left-back for today and will look to get forward to support Miller.

James Berrett
The midfielder scored a thumping goal on his last visit to the County Ground, and is certainly a player that doesn’t need to be afforded any space by Town this afternoon. The former Huddersfield junior can control play if he is allowed to, and looks to get the ball into the feet of Miller to begin Carlisle’s attacking moves.

CHARITY BET
At the beginning of 2013 Sam and Andy are making a new start and are looking to use their (questionable) football knowledge to raise money for Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust.
Today's bets are:
Sam: Swindon Town 1-0 Carlisle, Andy Williams first scorer. 20/1
Andy: Swindon Town 2-0 Carlisle, Matt Ritchie first scorer. 25/1
Last week we successfully managed to win nothing for charity, so let’s hope for a different outcome today.
All money will be donated to the trust at the end of the season.
2:41pm
Carlisle boss Greg Abbott believes his side deserved to get something from their 1-0 defeat at Crewe, and has challenged his players to raise their game for today’s visit to Swindon.
GREG ABBOTT
"The positive at Crewe was that we played well enough to get something out of the game. We've got to dust ourselves down, not feel sorry for ourselves, pick up and take on one of the form sides in the division. With respect to Crewe, Swindon are probably a better side.
“They've got more resources to go with, but we have to go in with the belief that on our day, and with our game improving, we can cause them problems.
"We should have had nine points out of the last nine, not six, but we dust ourselves down. Certainly the performances are improving and the belief is improving and we are looking a better side at the moment."
2:39pm
LAST TIME OUT
Town will be hoping for a much better afternoon than the one the endured last time they hosted Carlisle, with a 1-0 defeat seeing them sink further towards relegation from League One.

IN THE AWAY DUGOUT – Greg Abbott
CARLISLE BOSS GREG ABBOTT
Since taking over the managerial position at Carlisle at the end of 2008, Abbott has ensured the club has gone from strength to strength.
He originally took over as caretaker after Neil McDonald was sacked in August 2007, and went on to win five of his 10 games in charge to lead the Cumbrians to fourth place in the league, but current Bristol Rovers boss John Ward was eventually given the permanent job, and Abbott returned to being assistant manager. Together, the pair led the club to the play-offs before losing to Leeds United in the semi-finals.
Things didn’t start well the following season, and a run of nine defeats in 10 games saw Ward leave the club, and after another spell as caretaker Abbott eventually landed the job full-time.
In his first season he kept the club in League One by a single point, and after that close shave he has led the club to a succession of safe mid-table finishes, as well as eighth position last season.
As a player, the right-back spent the majority of his time with Bradford, where he made close to 300 appearances in total before moving to Halifax and Guiseley.
He was given another shot at league football with Hull in 1992, and spent four seasons at Boothferry Park before retiring in 1996.

Chris Martin could play his final game for Swindon Town against Carlisle this afternoon.
He's dropped to the bench for today's game in the wake of James Collins' four goals aganst Portsmouth.
Martin spoke in midweek of his amazement as his fellow striker went on a 22-minute rampage against Pompey.
He said: “I was happy for Collo because he’s been a little unlucky not to get more minutes on the pitch I feel, since I’ve been here. We’ve been winning games and you have to take your chance when it comes.
YOU CAN READ MORE FROM CHRIS MARTIN BY CLICKING HERE
“He’s done that. He’s come in and scored four goals. It was surreal sitting there and watching it. We were laughing on the sideline after two and three, and he got an assist as well, it’s probably the best 25 minutes or half an hour of football I’ve seen someone have. He was absolutely on fire.”

Paolo Di Canio wants Carlisle to be worried by Swindon Town when the two teams meet later today.
After back to back 5-0 victories, the mood is excellent in the Swindon camp and their Italian manager hopes that to continue this afternoon.
He said: “They lost their last game and we are coming from a very good run.
“I don’t want to say worried because worried is a very hard word but they will think they have to go here and do well because they can lose and lose very badly because we are a good team.

“I don’t know them. Sometimes when I go play in a place when there is a team who are on a good run I am not worried and I tell my players ‘listen, be careful because this is a team that can damage us if we are not focused’.
“I imagine that Carlisle, against us, away from home, after they’ve seen the last few results we’ve had, can be worried in my opinion.

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the Advertiser's live coverage of Swindon Town's League One clash with Carlisle United.
Coming into the game off the back of two successive 5-0 victories at the County Ground, the Swindon crowd could be forgiven for expecting another rout this afternoon.
However, Carlisle are not an easy nut to crack, as they showed when they held Swindon to a 2-2 draw at Brunton Park earlier this term.
It's set to be a tight and tough encounter, as Paolo Di Canio's Robins look to claim the win that could take them within two points of second-placed Sheffield United.

Who are these new strikers we have called Collins and Williams they look fantastic.
Roberts put in a great shift today, tackles and headers too!
Thompson just gets better and better, no chance of him bottling a 40/60 challenge, and so much stronger than Caddis defensively.
Ward and Devera rock solid at the back, Macca superb at left back.
Brilliant performance, could have been 7 if Devera and Roberts had not missed from 1 yard and Martin finshed his big chance, plus countless other great passing moves.
Really do think we can push on from here, but we definitely need Hollands and Martin. Utter madness if we sell Flint with Troy injured!
If I was the board I would be slightly embarassed at their manager offering to pay for players, surely they will now do the decent thing to extend the loans.
Great stuff all round, Paolo is a legend already.

On the back of a run like this, Mr Black must surely think about keeping the two of them on. We're not exactly talking millions for new players, he just needs to weigh up the wages for two players till the end of the season vs the extra money gained for being in the championship a year earlier than planned.

The interviews on BBC Wiltshire were extraordinary tonight. Not just Paolo and his offer of cash (having already given away his image rights). But his happiness in the work being done and the intensity of training. How the back four working so hard in as a unit up and down without any ball in play.
Ward then comes on says he's delighted to sign and that he's never worked so hard in his fifteen years of being a professional. Extraordinary. Our demanding manager is everything.
Then Williams delighted to have a day off tomorrow as it's their first one in a month. I've said all along I can't get enough of Paolo's methods but now we've got Darren on board hopefully all the doubters will jump aboard the Di Canio Express.
Strikers on fire, another reason for me to go to the bookies at the end of the season when we win this league.
As well as bringing a mate put your cash on us next w/e and give half to the club. Also London (apologies for singling you out) is it time to think about not getting a season ticket. I have one, its not cost effective as I miss some games but its about supporting the club....

I wonder how the phone calls are going ? I suppose your mate, the emperor, will have to give up his wages as opposed to the complications around a cash injection into the clubs finances. Either way its a solid idea and certainly does underline to Black what a personality we have here, almost embarrassing Black into action. I think I'm right in saying (correct me if I am wrong) that last season at Southend and this season at Stevenage were games against sides on a long unbeaten run before the mighty Town thrashed them.
Same again at Bournemouth would make everyone sit up and realise that the Di Canio express is truly in top gear.

Just reminds me, that's what we need now, a goal scoring hero to set the heart racing. An Eastoe, a Mayes, or a Fjortoft.
Could it be time for Williams and/or Collins to start to reserve their places in the Legend's Lounge?
By the way, what a fantastic gate today. Over 9,000 on a few days after a big gate against Pompey. Perhaps we should have kid for a quid more often. Also really like the idea of paying for a mate to come along.
My contribution to increasing gates was to forget to bring down the Xmas presents when I came down recently. So, will have to make a return journey which just happens to coincide with the Shrewsbury game.

We had the Red Army Fund - yes we got a loanee once out of it - but that went for years - showing many don't part with their cash - we will not raise £30k by end of the window!
.
Also it wasn't that long ago the board did a rights issue where they asked existing shareholders to back them and also offered it up to new shareholders
.
I took them up - but think I must have been alone as of the 2m looked to be raised they had to buy over 95% of the share themselves!!!
.
Also as Stratton says opening up the bank bar the odd promotion game or big cup game only moves people around and doesn't increase the crowd by much
.
They would be better doing what they did on sat and offer £20 tickets and all under 16s for £1 to boost crowds
.
The only thing which will actually bring people in is the football and 5-0 5-0 and 4-0 should really help
.
With most of our home games now against the lower sides a few more thumping a should draw people out - especially if we get into the top 2

The Paolo bandwagon rolls on - and now he's offering to put £30K towards the transfer kitty!
I've had doubts about him in the past, but this kind of commitment is second to none. There are so many players playing well and supporting each other, that when some have an off-day it shouldn't be too obvious. Next week is going to be the biggest test since Sheffield Utd.
Hey SAP can you help get this off the ground with your contacts at the Adver?
The Shrews match would be a good one to target.
What about the club opening up Stratton Bank and let fans pay what they like min £5 to raise extra money.
I could ask and even extend the enquiry to those I know within the club...being honest, Shrewsbury may be too soon but lets ask and see what we get back.
...
I'm sure the Advertiser would allow us a thread to advertise the event.
...
We'd need voluntary stewards and those on the Stratton Bank (or whatever it is called these days) gates as we don't want it to cost the club out of the money we raise plus maybe...JUST maybe, Black would be willing to match what we raise?....shame we couldn't do it with the Town End as well really but complications over the season ticket seats there.

Need a catchy name though!!

Probably need to steer clear of things like Paolo's War Chest! :-)

Have to agree with LR's realism on this. But as he says as he says with the lower teams coming to the County Ground now, it might be best to continue with the £20 per adult plus kid for a quid.

I would probably donate a tenner to the pot, although given the weaIth behind the club I have to say that the whole idea is pretty surreal. Whether we like it or not, the fact remains that cash is tight because a substantial playing budget has been spent already. It's marvellous that PDC is offering to top up the budget with his own cash, even if it does come across as a bit of emotional blackmail.
I don't believe that he will need to dip into his own pocket, as I am sure the club will want to maintain the current momentum and find a way of funding his requirements. But Black will certainly want to draw a line somewhere - and who can blame him?

The Stratton Bank is a nice idea, but probably would divert funds away than if people just went to the open stands. The suggestion of bringing a friend to the game who might not go otherwise, and paying £20, is probably the best for the club.
Of course it wouldn't ring-fence and show the initiative, as no-one would know what the gate might have been otherwise, which a fund or opening the Stratton Bank could.
A name for the fund/initiative? How about the Loan Rangers/Arrangers?

As for today again what a show super.Plus all these crap rumours about Pdc being replaced load of crap and don't know what the solid Town fans would make of that????
Would create many problems.
As for the Fans I recall in the 70's when a co-operative was formed fan/local business people raised money againg cannot remeber how much but in a way it helped.
As for SWP it's about time he got off his **** in London and try to do a job that he is getting paid for.
If my remarks are wrong and he has done something????
Then relate to the fans no more negative interviews etc,is funny has gone vey quiet after the Pompey Game.If JW had been here he would have been shouting from the roof tops for support from fans and board.
Plus this Board meeting again no response from SWP.
Hope again I'm wrong and he was able to raise funds for Pdc however even my Wife said don't like the sound of him

My original suggestion was just an improvement on throwing money into a bucket as in addition it would increase interest and probably sell some extra burgers.
I suppose to mix the two..... Just do a normal collection. Whatever money is 'raised' is used to buy tickets for a particular game. Those are then given away to people. Groups such as 6th forms..... Local amateur football clubs.. Etc etc. That then means -
*anybody can donate any amount as opposed to a full ticket price
*the club get the extra money!
*The ground will have a larger crowd that day
*those 'visitors' may get a taste and come back
*the 'visitors' will spend extra money on refreshments and programmes.
*Would be a great press release.... 'Supporters pay for free tickets for local community' or suchlike
*PDC gets his money, gets the players he wants, gets us promoted, follows that with taking us into the premier league.
And when that final point happens I would like credit for the idea that masterminded it!! I can see it now, telling my grand kids how I personally got Swindon into the premier league :-p

The ONLY problem I have ever had with our manager is his public, name, shame, blame approach, and I'm not alone. That is my ONLY gripe. NO, I have not had a downer on him at all. If I had I would hardly have been supporting Collins and Williams to come good, my prior stance was it would all come good in the New Year, they beat me to it by a few games, and I'm very pleased they did. I am more than happy with that and paid for two others yesterday and more than happy to do so, my treat. I would say that it is you who still have the downer on the players mentioned as you once more had a pop even earlier on this thread.
Right, too much said and perhaps mis understood, but the fact remains had the man stated this earlier we just may have been a few days in front with all of this as a decision has to be made about Hollands on Monday, and my wish was for the money to be available to meet that deadline. I do hope that now you can see my forward intentions which I consider to be for the good of many.
My thanks to other posters for their consideration and support, I just hope we can ALL band together and do something constructive to help the man as our owner and chairman seem to be speechless right now. I have no apprehension as to where the money will go as I trust the souls concerned. Totally.

As for Ritchie being worth 200 million, of course not, but he is worth far more than the paltry amounts Bournemouth have been willing to pay in the past. Swindon aren't a massive club by any means but don't talk drivel, and as for Pompey in disguise? You will never be as well supported a club as Pompey, fallen from grace in a big way but still bring in the crowds. Proper football club - wouldn't put their Dorset neighbours in anywhere near the same class.
Instead of stirring a week before the game, how about looking forward to what should be a well contested game between two teams in good form, and the pleasure of a capacity away support from some of the best travelling fans you'll ever see. Enjoy.

For those that like a bet he is 66/1 with Blue Sq to finish top scorer paying out ew for 1st four. Now that McGoldrick has left Coventry helps as no more L1 goals for him.

Sorry matey but you totally missed the sentiment on that one.
BTW good luck with your plan to get the deaf mutes in the Arkells singing from the same hymn sheet as the Town end. I reckon you have to put on a bandsman uniform, stand up and wave a baton at them before the majority of them start warbling :)

The cheap Stratton bank idea will never get off the ground I'm afraid. Offering cheap tickets would divert the on the day tickets in the side stands not bring bought and everybody going for the cheaper Stratton tickets. That would actually lose the club money even with a larger attendance. Even offering a season ticket holder an extra 'bring a friend' for £10 or £15 would just mean most people would find a season ticket holder to get their seat instead of paying full price as normal.

---
Need a catchy name though!!
.
Probably need to steer clear of things like Paolo's War Chest! :-)
...
Let's give it a go.
It will be his tenth birthday present and he'll be wearing the new boots I bought for him.
His name is Ben Wollen and he is the grand-nephew of the great Terry Wollen, whose STFC career, was cut short (in 1963) by a crunching tackle from some dirty git who played for Notts County.
If you can chant "Mondeaux bought yer boots". That would be brilliant.
I''ll not be attending as I'll (probably) be laid up in a French hospital, with a fibre-optic camera up me jacksy.
In this particular situation, I'll not be saying "onward & upward".

All these ideas sound great in a forum and a few like minded fans mat agree - but unfortunately that is all that will agree and the general public won't
.
This show called sign of support by donating cash has been done before - and not to that much affect!!
.
This will show him our support and go towards any money he has paid out for the loan players.
If he dosen't need it (the board cough up) just rip up the cheques.

---
Need a catchy name though!!
Anyway, you told me the staff were quite nice, even when they shave yer bits. LOL, Good health mate, and I'll give your lad a cheer. Hope you are feeling better now than before.

I SAID IT BECAUSE OF WHAT HE SAID NOT WHAT HE HAS DONE
Darren Very well done. I was trying to have a debate with you about the fact that I find your constant criticism of Paolo's transfer record to be a nonsense. As Old Town indicated in "his" opinion of player values. It was my contention that you have been spooting nonsense for weeks.
No doubt you were one of those booing JP McGovern yesterday? Despite him being an excellent servant of this club.
I congratulate you for being able to enter into a healthy debate. Very well done.

Bostock I think might take a little longer and probably is not essential for the next game or two.
Good news the little Welsh man has jumped ship at Donnie, Colchester dominated them on Saturday, good goal but a lucky win. Doesn't it make you feel good we have a manager with a bit more loyalty.

Personally if I can't get tickets in the away end I won't go to a game, just doesn't seem right, however if more tickets were offered to away fans this wouldn't happen.
Eddie, before you get on your high horse once again, I don't think saying you're not Millwall was an insult - jusat saying that Bournemouth's not known as a club where people risk getting their heads kicked in on a regulars basis. That's a good thing right? Unless you're one of the football factory wannabes who think violence and football go hand on hand.
By the way for someone who was getting bored of this yesterday it must have been quite an accomplishment to get on here at just gone half five to start stirring

Seaside towns have a particular bleakness in winter that's quite off putting.
