Robins' Bjerre bid rejected

SWINDON Robins' approach for Peterborough asset Kenneth Bjerre has been knocked back by the Panthers.

Co-promoter Gary Patchett asked to speak to the Dane after seeing a bid to buy fellow Peterborough asset Hans Andersen rejected, with the East of England Showground club insisting for most of the winter that both riders were under consideration for their number one spot.

Panthers' co-owner Julie Mahoney has now confirmed the move for Bjerre, who has not been announced in the Peterborough side, was rejected immediately.

Mahoney also says the Robins have withdrawn an increased bid for Andersen, but the Dane remains the Blunsdon club's first choice for the number one spot.

“Swindon made an offer to buy Hans that fell a long way short of our valuation of the rider," Mahoney told the Peterborough Telegraph.

“They responded by increasing the offer but then notified us they had withdrawn the bid before we had even had a chance to consider it.

“Swindon then asked for permission to speak to Kenneth which was rejected immediately.”
