SWINDON TOWN: Di Canio would sign eight Bournemouth players
11:13am Thursday 10th January 2013 in Local
Paolo Di Canion admires several of the Bournemouth squad
AFTER thrashing Bournemouth 4-0 in September, Paolo Di Canio told his assistant manager Fabrizio Piccareta that he would quite happily sign the majority of the Cherries side. Four months on, the Swindon Town boss feels vindicated in his judgement.
Two goals from Matt Ritchie, plus one apiece from Andy Williams and Adam Rooney, handed Town an emphatic victory when the sides met earlier this season.
Since then, however, Bournemouth have changed their manager – replacing Paul Groves with Eddie Howe – and have gone on to become serious promotion contenders.
And looking back, Di Canio is happy to admit that he admires the individual qualities of several of the Dean Court outfit’s squad.
“When we won against Bournemouth 4-0 we finished the game and I said to Fabrizio that they had seven or eight players that individually I would have here,” he said.
“Not because my players are not good but because they were good. I said they are over this level and they proved this since they changed their manager.
“With this manager they proved their real quality. I don’t know if they can keep going but in the way they play, in the way they express their football they are one of the best sides.”
With the League One season now well past midway, the division is taking shape.
Di Canio believes the majority of the top six is already decided, but he isn’t one to rest on his laurels.
“I know you can’t judge one team on one game but six of the eight will be up there if they don’t have a crazy second half to the season,” he said.
“But there is a space for some good surprise for everybody."

"If" this is the case and Di Canio does leave , there is no other manager other than eddie howe i would want at Swindon .
I wonder if he would sign their manager?!! He seems to have made the biggest difference in transforming Bournemouth's fortunes

Good shout though. Apparently he was on loan at Swindon in 2004 as a defender, but never played a game.

Remember also we stuffed Burnley here in the league cup a couple of months ago.
It would depend on whether we had renewed aspirations of the premiership (I doubt it , hope not !). So maybe Howe would be right for us as a mid table Championship club. However there are a few who could do that for us.

As goes the game, I think it will be very tight, and I don't think for one minute either side will run away with it and I would be very happy to come away with shared spoils, a point there will be more than most could dream of. If we do get the win then the teams above will know for sure this side has settled and one to be feared.

Just like to add, I believe it was jayden mentioned one of the jobsworths gave him a parking ticket for parking in the council carpark outside the ticket office, checked with the office on no-match days we can park anywhere along the other side of the barrier, in fact there are a dozen parking bays along by the hedge that can be used. I know the odds are slight to get a ticket, but best not to chance it with them buggers, not unknown for them to hide in hedges, lol

There is no doubting Howes abilities and the fact they were decent before he left and have improved massively since his return. If our manager were to go I would have no problems with Howe coming here to carry on the good work, with the added advantage of his CCC experience. However we aint there yet.

Wiz as a dreamer I'm going for 3 nil: Get the first, then hit them twice on the break for a Cheeky 3 nil win. Williams to get the first. I've backed it along with us at 2-1 to win. Unbelievable price that given the confidence now coarsing through all the players.
Pay day this weekend........

You boys are looking pretty string this year, Paulo has done very well !
We are however a very different team to the one you thumped earlier on in the season.
It was a shame our Board took so long to get Eddie back.
Should be a good game Sat, Im hoping we make it 18 unbeaten.
Good luck for the rest of the season.

If he does leave again, it would be to go to somewhere a little better than Swindon, no offence!

Didn't realise Bournemouth had so many fans, that's about 6 or 7 now.
